Re: List Thread-Third Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge Mar 31-Apr 30 20

JOKipper's List

I wasn't sure that I would join in this year, but I watched so many bad ones over the first weekend of this challenge that I might as well. My goal will be a modest 50 films.

Re: May 2011 Make-Your-Own Challenge Discussion Thread

For sure, I'm just now getting around to getting my own list posted. I'm doing a "six-episodes-makes-a-season" challenge, getting caught up on all of the BBC comedy shows I've been putting off.

Kipper's Six-Episodes-Makes-A-Season Challenge
Seems like this challenge would be a good time to catch up on the classic shows of the BBC. I had already started watching Are You Being Served? ...

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

Same here. Once you acquire the lasso, you can do some very dastardly things to the local population as well (hog-tie, railroad tracks...you get the idea!)
Recently playing the game and the sequel...

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

I heartily recommend Django Kill (If You Live, Shoot). The underrated Tomas Milian stars as "Django", and, of course, the film has nothing to do with the original movie. But it's an absolute blast to...

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

Superfly certainly had a great score, but I couldn't believe how awful the movie itself was. I saw it at least 10 times back in the day (it was always paired up with Enter the Dragon at the local...

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

Wow, those really are some funny double bills!
Blindman is also on my personal checklist; fortunately, I have a crappy copy of it on DVD. It was the 2nd feature of a double bill (with Blazing...

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

Macon County Line...now, that's one I actually saw at the drive-in, back in the day, paired up with Vanishing Point.

Earlier in the week, I decided that I'll start the challenge off by watching a...

Re: The Unknown War (1978 doc about WW2 from Russian perspective) from Shout! - 05/24

I watched most of the episodes when it aired back in the day, and I've wondered why this was never released on disc. Although it had a lot of unique footage from the vaults, I remember finding the...

Re: 2010 TV on DVD Challenge Discussion Thread

I've enjoyed the challenge. I watched a few things that I normally wouldn't have watched (Mad Men S1 and the Evil Roy Slade telefilm). And, it got me caught up on several other series, such as...

Re: 2010 TV on DVD Challenge Discussion Thread

Of the first 4 seasons, I do think that Season 3 is the weakest one. Not only slower and less interesting, but Dexter doesn't seem to be himself and certain other characters are just over-the-top....

Re: 2010 TV on DVD Challenge Discussion Thread

Re: 2010 TV on DVD Challenge Discussion Thread

A few of my thoughts about Mad Men Season 1, which I FTV'd for this challenge.

As I watched it, it became clear that this show is purely a soap opera. According to Wiki, a soap opera can by...

Re: 2010 TV on DVD Challenge Discussion Thread

It's amazing how much work was put into making a full season in those days. It was usual for a 30-minute show to have 39 episodes up to the early '60s; and as you pointed out, the episodes ran at...

Which Dragnet "premiere" are you referring to, and how does that relate to Friday's first partner? That was my point about the question :)

Re: January 2011 TV on DVD* Challenge List Thread

All shows watched on DVD. Counting is done in 1 hour blocks of "prime time". Episode ratings are done in terms of "shares" percentage, with 100% being a perfect episode.
All are FTV unless otherwise...

Re: 2010 TV on DVD Challenge Discussion Thread

I'm not sure I understand the logic here. For obvious reasons, it's usually better to see a theatrical film in a theater. The "natural environment" of TV content is the TV, and the natural...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Other poster images show that the whited-out area has the MPAA rating placed there.

I saw it when it was released as well. It is one of the few times that I ever left the theater before the film...

Re: DVDTalk's Second Annual Criterion Challenge - September 2010

Better late than never, hmmmm?

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

I definitely wouldn't consider These are the Damned to be a horror film...it's sci-fi, similar to The Prisoner with a bit of Clockwork Orange mixed in.
Personally, I wouldn't consider The Stranglers...
