Re: Tesla and other Electric Cars Talk

Why, though? Are there injurious longterm effects on the battery if one charges only with a three-prong plug? It only takes about 36-48 hours to charge from 50-or-so km to near a full charge. We can...

Is there an English translation for "Elon Musk stans"?

Anyway, the Model 3 has been mostly a revelation so far. Wonderful ride, extremely quiet and comfortable, dead-easy to drive, zero...

Re: Where can I find Garbage Pail Kids singles?

Thought I'd find you here.;) Did your friend draw the Trump card or draw the Trump card? Sorry, a month late and a drollery short. (I like epigrams:))

By the way, Trump and garbage pails. What a...

Re: Hugh Downs (former co-host of 20/20) dead at 99

I still watch 20/20. All of these onetime-newsmagazine shows have morphed into true crime hours. Two hours in the case of Dateline, with cadaverous Keith "I'm sooo noirish" Morrison, Dennis "Barney...

Re: The Wonder Years reboot in development from EP Fred Savage and Lee Daniels at ABC

Terrible idea. The premise sounds good, but why appropriate the name? Call it something else. It's only going to suffer in comparison.

Re: Post a song you like or love.

Alejandro Escovedo's best song is this deeply moving cover of "Silver City" (recently posted by someone at Yt):

I've never seen or heard of her. Gorgeous! However, I was already an adult when she was born.

Re: What movies are among your favorites that no one else ever talks about?

This is what first came to mind for me. One could list scores of great films (foreign, independent, etc.) no one has heard of, but I think the point of this thread is to name somewhat mainstream...

Re: Sexual Harassment/Assault in Hollywood -- Discussion

What's his evidence, the absence of a penis? I have to say, that's pretty solid proof, though I guess he could have raped them digitally or orally.

More interesting or hilarious than that some...

Re: Do you remember the Saturday movies on your local VHF and UHF stations?

Up here, we had the incomparably enthusiastic, avuncular Elwy Yost hosting "Saturday Night at the Movies" (love that theme music, too) on the ever-wonderful public-TV channel, TVOntario. I always...

Re: What are you reading? 2020

wishbone, coincidentally I'm just reading Barnaby Rudge, among other things. Its reputation is that of one of Dickens's lesser works, but I find it no less engaging than any of his "major" books.

Re: Arrow, MVD, Synapse, and Blue Underground Releases Masterthread

I hope no one here falls for Edge of the Axe, a latter-day dog from a great director of '70s horror.

Re: Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3

I'm still a wishy-washy agnostic, tending strongly to atheism, and will likely remain so.:) Conservatism in Canada has changed in the last 30 years. There aren't many amiable Red Tories like Joe...

Re: Have you ever bought a movie just because you like one scene in the movie?

I was going to declaim "Hell, no!", but then I thought of Pom Pom and Hot Hot, a vintage HK comedy-actioner that is mostly just as terrible and lame as its title indicates, with the notable exception...

Re: Will Donald Trump go down as the worst President in history of US?

I believe he will, without question, and the scholarly asseveration from the committee of historians will send him into paroxysms of fury. Bush and his puppetmasters were arguably worse for world...

Re: What channel that drifted from its original mission disappointed you the most?

A&E still has a few good shows, though most of its content is exploitative. TLC is just pure shit; redneck reality shows from morning to night. Up here in Canada, Showcase and Bravo used to be...
