re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Only in the sense that Criterion is starting to release 4K’s. No interest in owning Citizen Kane or really any of the other initial announced titles, other than maybe Mulholland Dr., which I own on...

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Meh. Glad to see Criterion is finally getting onto the 4K bandwagon, but I could care less about Citizen Kane.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

If we could get Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair for the first time, and in 4K that would be amazing. Doubt it will happen though.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Surprised that Criterion hasn’t gotten on the 4K bandwagon when other smaller labels like Shout Factory/Scream Factory, Vinegar Syndrome, and Kino all have already.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I don’t own Fast Times at Ridgemont High so maybe I’ll grab that eventually.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

It just feels kinda flimsy and cheap. Especially by Criterion standards. I’d rather it have just been one of their clear Blu-ray cases.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Packaging for The Elephant Man isn’t anything special at all. Super thin digipack housed in a slip case.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I’m sure most of us have been guilty of this at some point. For me there’s a very small percentage of Criterion releases that actually interest me. Not that they don’t put out quality releases, but...

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

September releases:

Brute Force
Beau Travail
Christ Stopped at Eboli
The Elephant Man
Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project No. 3
The Naked City

I might pick up The Elephant Man. I...

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I’m not really a big enough Bruce Lee fan to justify the entire set. Too bad we couldn’t get an individual Criterion release of Enter the Dragon.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I don’t care about Roma, but hopefully this is the start of a partnership between Netflix and Criterion and eventually Criterion will snatch up the rights to release The Irishman on Blu-ray.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

The one film by Wim Wenders I’ve seen, which was Paris, Texas I really liked a lot. His filmography doesn’t seem accessible to my taste generally though.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I only buy Criterion titles I’m interested in and don’t really have a whole ton of them. I don’t have much interest in foreign films or the more art house titles they release. I appreciate the care...

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

That’s what I was thinking too. It seems like Criterion has certain directors they like to work with after they’ve established a relationship. I’m sure if they’re able to obtain the rights to films...

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I might upgrade No Country For Old Men. I have the first release which is fairly old.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I’ll probably triple dip on The Breakfast Club (have it on DVD and the Blu-ray by Universal). I’m still waiting for Criterion to hopefully announce Night of the Living Dead. I know a version is...

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

The Graduate is one of those films I've always meant to see but never have yet so I may look into getting the Criterion edition during the next Barnes & Noble fifty percent off sale.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I liked Inside Llewyn Davis a lot but already have the current Blu-ray so not sure I'll bother upgrading.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I might get Eraserhead as I like David Lynch but it's not my favorite of his films. I'd rather they released Mulholland Drive though personally.

Meh nothing I need to rush out for that month. I might get The Man Who Knew Too Much eventually but that's it.
