Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I wasn't that impressed by the newest one, Justice League: Warworld. Unless you're a big Jonah Hex or Warlord fan, it's not essential. Probably its most noticeable aspect is the R rating, they...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

If I remember correctly, you may actually lose a couple bonus features with the single UHD edition.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Don't hold me to it but I think those more expensive animated UHDs will fall in price over the next two months. Or not, it does not seem like WB is manufacturing huge quantities of the UHDs like...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

The first half is awesome, everything I mostly wanted in a Long Halloween adaptation. The back half fumbles the ball a little, though overall I'd still give it mostly high marks.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

It should also be mentioned in the wave of sweeping cancellations by Discovery, they've gutted WB's animation departments. Tons of firings. While I expect the animated DTV DC movies to continue...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Depends, sometimes Best Buy puts SteelBooks on sale which don't sell much weeks/months after release. I have a feeling this one is going to sit on shelves.

And yes, I've heard nothing good about...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I didn't get a review copy this time around but did see the overpriced SteelBook at Best Buy today. I'll wait until it's cheaper.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I have a sickening feeling they'll adapt Bendis' run on Legion for the movie.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

They took their sweet time with this promised release. It was originally supposed to be out in Q1 of this year.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

From what I hear, only the Batman titles really sell that well. Even the Superman movies aren't big sellers. So they have to package Batman prominently in virtually everything.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Yes, Damien was designed to have an abrasive, brash personality. The dedication and ability of Bruce Wayne, but raised to be a killer from birth by the League of Assassins.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

She definitely has a...distinctive tone to her voice. I imagine she's fine for comedy roles but Batwoman isn't a lighthearted character.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

They nailed Catwoman's voice but every other character's voice in that movie was off. Beatriz sounded like an amateur as Batwoman.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I wouldn't have minded seeing an entire season of that Blue Beetle short. Fun stuff for retro animation lovers.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

WB outsources their animation to Korean studios and more "prestigious" movies like Batman: The Long Halloween receive higher budgets. The budget for this short must have been nothing.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

The new Constantine short serves mostly as an epilogue to Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, though after about two minutes is a solo adventure. The short itself isn't bad but obvious WB cut corners...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

That's always an issue for the movie adaptations. It's almost impossible taking any extended comic book run and boiling it down to 80-90 minutes, especially when they use "alternative" versions of...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

That's a good call on the score, which does remind me of the music from various Lupin the Third films. Those films inform a lot of the vibe in Catwoman: Hunted, in fact.

Stephanie Beatriz does a...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I got it for review...there isn't much difference between it and the Blu-ray. One new special feature. Not worth buying unless you get it cheap or don't own the original BD.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Many people don't like the anime-inspired designs, especially for characters like the Joker and Penguin. The first three seasons are fairly banal and pretty clearly aimed at younger audiences despite...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Personally as a huge Superman fan, I greatly disliked Injustice. You know a DC movie has gone wrong when Harley Quinn is the most likable character. Easily my least favorite animated DC movie since...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I thought the first Long Halloween part was more satisfying than part 2. That's a graphic novel which would have worked better with each issue getting its own episode over one season.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

HBO MAX has been doing their own transfers for many of the cartoons they carry. Their team hasn't earned great marks from cartoon fans for the most part. My guess is the team handling those episodes...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I thought Long Halloween Part 1 was nearly great despite a few changes from the graphic novel. I wasn't as impressed with Part 2, which felt rushed because they left major chunks of plot for the back...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I think A Death In The Family was an experiment to see if physical media sales could be improved. The streaming version has no interactivity and I believe only has the primary narrative, so you have...
