I don't remember any subtitles on it theatrically, actually (saw it last September). There may have been some for locations or signage, but even with that I have my doubts. Even with no subs...

Not 'silent', per se. Just no formal dialogue, but standard ambient noise and plentiful screaming and wailing and grunting, etc. ;)

That's debatable. While youth audiences in Asia -- as elsewhere (even here) -- often shape trends in entertainment over there, those same young Asian people rarely dictate what we see over here,...

Ah, if true, then my bad. ;)

I suppose Chen Zhen will do alright now that so many Donnie Yen movies have gotten U.S. DVD releases. It's still a very average movie, though.

Saw this on the big screen here in Toronto during it's run, and I'm not sure the two films deserve to be compared, especially since the Korean film was hugely successful exactly where it was supposed...
