But he can't die because he eventually becomes a 92 year old man telling people about his younger years, even though that may not be considered canon anymore.

Even indy in 1957 didn't feel right. He belongs in the WWII era or earlier.

He can't really die since they had a 92 year old Indy in the tv series even though they want to ignore it now. If they do a new movie, Ford would be nearly if not past 80 years old so the movie would...

I think the biggest problem now is Ford is pushing 80 and if his character is roughly the same age in the new movie, then they will have now caught up to the "present day" of when the first movie...

They come up with original ideas all the time. A small amount of the original ideas take off and are successfull. But just like in the time period that Raiders came out most new ideas weren't...

Indy in the late 1960's seems bad. Even if it was a 30 something year old version of Indy. Indy stories belong in the late 1930's-40's.
