The first 30 minutes of this game are such a drag. BL2 was the same. You'd think after nearly a decade they'd have learned how to move things along, but I guess not.

They did, and for various reasons, but it sounds like the only outlet they were honest with was Giant Bomb, where they told them it was because of the 'sentiment of their E3 coverage'.

This game is...a bit of a mess on PC. I'm having a ton of issues navigating any of the menus with a controller. The menus (main menu, in-game pause menu, backpack, skills, etc.) will go completely...

Same here. BL 2 is one of the very few games I’ve played through to completion more than once.
