Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I'm assuming these are the newer releases and not the old DVD-18 flipper Legacy sets, correct?

A good deal, but Universal announced they have plans for many of the sequels on Blu Ray. I might...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I saw the two new Warners releases of the 60's SUPERMAN and BATMAN Filmation cartoons, on the shelf a month before their scheduled release and selling for $11.99 each.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Ernest, Vol. 3 was at my Costco in Burbank, CA, but only one copy and that was two weeks ago. I wonder if it's a tough one to find. I wish I could afford all these, but even at $17.99 they are too...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Steve, the Sally Field GIDGET TV series is in a separate DVD set from the three GIDGET feature films you mentioned and I did see it at Costco as has been reported, but that was weeks ago. I also saw...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I disagree, though I know I'm in the minority. I'm about halfway through watching the entire series for the first time and I still don't think anything has matched the quality of the pre-Barnabas...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Joe, thanks for the clarification! I did not know that WB had a release of the "Complete Series" prior to what they are calling the "Repackaged" set. That is great information to have when...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Yes I could have been more specific about terminology and release years. By "genuine" I meant the Complete Series set that came out after the season sets and was the first to be labeled as such. As...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

John, I think you may have misread my post as I said exactly the same thing as you.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

In the case of GILLIGAN'S ISLAND at least, this Complete Series is just the three separate season releases bundled together. Which means you are getting the three discs per season sets that are...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Thanks for that info. Do you know if these include all the bonus features that are included in the big box set besides the book, of course?

I also see that these BEST OF collections were done on...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Spotted these today, don't know if they have been reported or not:

BEST OF ABBOTT AND COSTELLO:All 4 Volumes, which I believe contains all their Universal films: $12.99 each.

TCM SPOTLIGHT:...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I was referring to the period when the code began being enforced during late 1934, not when it was breaking down in the 60's. It's that demarcation where the phrase "post-code" is usually in...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

As I'm not a fan of post-code MGM in general and don't become one again until Schary takes over, I feel that the Marx Bros. were not a good fit there, so we can agree to disagree. Still, there are...

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I picked up THE MARX BROTHERS COLLECTION today for $15.99. I've never been real fond of their MGM work, Thalberg and the code watered them down way too much, but for $17 and change it seemed worth...
