OK, let me try and clear up a few things.

First: you can't lose your data on Destiny or D2 unless you delete your characters. All items, progress and stats are saved on Bungie's end, not locally....

Almost correct. Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and either the season pass or individual seasons for the current year. You missed Undying, so there's the current season plus 2 more to come.

I'm swapping back and forth. The menu differences stand out of course, as does speed of loading. Maybe I'd have a harder time if my TV and monitor weren't 60hz, but at this point switching between 60...

There's an easter egg in the mission where you can look through a portal and see the jumping puzzle from the Vault Of Glass, and I could have sworn that I saw you there trying to finish it ;)

Well, Bungie is changing the reset time with curse of Osiris.

Resets in D2 will now occur at 9 AM Pacific as opposed to 1AM as they are right now. They're doing to match the launch time of things...
