Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Yeah, that 75/25 sales split (admittedly from the worst of supply chain challenge time) was really surprising. Probably a lot of sales to folks who just wanted a 'next gen' console, and that's what...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Interesting - I guess I don't "own" any of the games digitally, though I have pretty much all of them on disc. 60 bucks is a great price for all that for someone who doesn't have any, and 30 is...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Yeah, does that mean FOR 12 months after release, or BEGINNING 12 months after release? Very different messages. I'm sure that was part of even the initial discussions and estimates; "if our sales...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

That might be the Xbox All Access thing.
You finance the Xbox for two years and that includes game pass for the whole time. I think I did the math and for an XSX that wasnt a bad deal, assuming...

Looks like 3 month sub for 30 bucks on cdkeys.com. normally 45$.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

IANAA (analyst), but:
- Chip shortage = lower production/inventory
- Shipping = vastly increased costs and vastly decreased availability means less regular release schedule
- Pandemic = increased...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Personally, I lean toward no. Especially if you have a One or One X. But if you have a 360 or no Xbox system, and you want one now, you could always get it then upgrade and trade in if you want when...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Sad that it's ending but seems to be a pretty impressive output.
Side note - how'd I miss Vandal Hearts? I loved the first game, and really liked the second, on PS1. Looks like FoJ is getting a...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

From what I've seen, yes, they go live on certain retailers and are snapped up quick. The XSS is easier to find, but I didn't even consider getting that one.
I was lucky to have gotten one XSX...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I didn't. I don't think I need it yet. I did buy a Seagate external drive, I think 4tb. I put everything there unless the box says "this game needs to go on internal". By the time I really need one...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Couple of questions:

- Which TV is best for XSX gaming - probably 50/50 gaming and streaming services? I was bouncing between the Sony X85J, a TCL 4 Series, an LG UN something, and a Hisense H9G...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Fascinating article.
And the "it's not real money!" is an interesting (ie, totally crazy and hypocritical) defense when he was selling them for bitcoin.

Yeah, I've wondered that too. I've bought...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Absolutely. Times are changing. Streaming and lack of hardware dependency is much more a thing. And with a lot of MS's other offerings, they're well versed in SaaS and subscription services. ...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Depends on how much you could get for it, how long you want to wait, and how hard you want to try to get an XSX.
If you could get full refund or thereabouts, I'd return it/sell it for that and try...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Question - Why preorder a digital game, especially weeks in advance? Are the games cheaper? Do they pre-load so you can play at 12:01 on release date? Just personal timing/preference?

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I got my Series X today. Technically was supposed to arrive in two weeks, but hey, no complaints. (I didn't get the digital codes I was supposed to get, so I reached back out to Gamestop. But I guess...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Definitely a push toward GamePassUltimate (which is awesome, but this is a tacky way of doing it) (edit - GPU is awesome, but this push is bad).
There were brief rumors about a 'family gamepass'...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I used to have various sets of rechargeables, including Eneloop, but I didn't use them enough. They were never charged when i needed them. I use the recharging stations, and I stock up on AA and...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I'm fine with the way they've done it. An issue with built in rechargeables is that unless they're user replaceable, eventually they lose life and affect the usability of the controller as a whole....

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Tried again when Walmart had them at 3 PM EST.
Unresponsive buttons, slow reloads, I actually got to the "place order" button and it keeps either looping or kicking me back a screen saying "We're...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

My son's walking me through setting his up over Alexa video chat.
He's very excited.
It's big but not as big as I thought. And dammit I went to walmart.com and had one in my cart but it sold out...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Mine (my son's, actually) hasn't changed to 'shipped' but my card was charged overnight, so that's promising.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Yeah, not for a while. I've got a legacy external hard drive I'll use for storage and previous gen games. If/when I start maxing out the internal SSD on XSX games, I'll store them on the hard drive...
