Actually, that's exactly what it's like most of the time. The disc will just have the Steam/Blizzard installer or whatever, and then you input the code from the case to download the game.

Maybe not for people into pop music where the singles are great, and the rest of the album is middling. For me, I can easily list dozens upon dozens of albums where I find every song enjoyable.
