They actually have a pre-order up for The Batman UHD.

The pricing seems insane. Maybe the "free worldwide shipping" makes it more economical for people in other countries wanting to import.

I mean, it seems like they're probably just guessing? They take the theatrical poster, crop the credits and/or "coming soon" and make it more UHD case shaped, then slap the "UHD + Blu-ray + Digital"...

I think there's a typo in your post, the Superbit line were DVDs, not Blu-rays.

The closest to Superbit on Blu-ray was Sony's "Mastered in 4K" line:...

I agree, even if it's technically possible, i.e. the files still exist and can be re-rendered, the studio isn't likely to do it for Final Fantasy because the time/cost will be more than the likely...

The issue with dropping the BD is that often the UHD BD disc is bare-bones, with just the movie and maybe a commentary track as an extra. The bulk of the extras are put/left on the BD.

To be fair, it's unclear if BvS Ultimate will have the 1.43:1 for sure; all we know is Snyder is pushing it heavily for his version of Justice League and that's he's super exited the IMAX sequences...

You're probably joking, but UHD Blu-ray has a maximum framerate of 60fps. Also, The Hobbit was shot at 48fps, which isn't supported either.

The idea is they're split to maximize bitrates for quality. I did some back of the napkin math for Lawrence, and 224 hours at 128 Mb/s would be just over 200 GB, or two 100 GB triple-layer UHD discs....

Both of you are correct. It's fairly standard for a UHD Blu-ray to include a Blu-ray disc as well, but it doesn't happen all the time.

13 Hours was just UHD Blu-ray and digital copy...

Having only a 2K master hasn't stopped a lot of UHD Blu-ray releases. See this list which notes which are real 4K, and which are "fake," aka 2K upconverts.
