I've played my SNES games that I have on my Wii (transferred to the U) more than I have the SNES mini.

I really want to hack/download new games to it, but I keep forgetting about it.

Unlike a lot of companies, N is really protective of their games/brand, and they'd rather lose money than dilute and/or devalue their games, even if their games are 30 years old.

They'd rather sell these games as digital downloads through their eventual online store for a Switch at $4 a pop, and if these games were available to everyone through...

My guess (if they actually are discontinuing it) is that they can get more $ by selling these games on their Swtich storefront than if they were readily available for everyone on this machine. Greed....

There are store managers from various Targets/WalMarts/Gamestops that are saying they got word that it's being discontinued on 1/31.

BUT, since it looks like the controller is being discontinued...

Yeah, there's rumblings that Nintendo might discontinue production on this thing, making it a limited-edition item. They probably realized that giving these premium games away on this console for $2...

Predicting what Nintendo will do or won't do is a fool's errand.

But you can get the disc for SMAS, that'll play on your Wii or Wii-U, for under $20 right now.

I actually did sell my SNES and games in order to buy a PS1.

But it only took me a couple months to realize my mistake, and I was able to re-buy all the best games (along with instruction...

I do own around 60 SNES carts, all of them stone cold classics, no bullshit carts. So when the SNES classic console comes out, I doubt it will have a game I don't have, and I'm sure I'll have...
