You can back up your favorites.

Click Bookmarks, show all bookmarks, then click import and backup, then click backup and save the file someplace.

If you have to restore them, you do the same...

You might want to consider uninstalling Firefox, rebooting and reinstalling it. The program might be jacked up.

I use Firefox and I don't have any errors with this site. I assume you reboot your machine regularly? Firefox can be pretty memory leaky and have issues sometimes, so a reboot fixes it for me some...
