Re: UHD release announcements

The Walmart Crow was already up for pre-order, sold out, went back up, and sold out again. Not sure if it will be available in stores.

I'm not a fan at all of buying limited edition items through...

Re: UHD release announcements

Yeah, it's fucking ridiculous. It's been, like, twenty years and we still haven't gotten TWBA. Don't know if there's some legal/contractual snag that prevents its release.

I'm also pissed that we...

Re: UHD release announcements

There’s a (sort of?) sequel coming out in November. Maybe they want to release the Dragon Tattoo UHD on the same day they release the Spider’s Web UHD.

Re: UHD release announcements

That seems like a pretty nifty-looking model of the Franklin. (Though I'm not really a fan of the Franklin's design; thought it looked kind awkward from a design point of view).

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

My primary concern with the Ultra HD Blu-ray format is that once these discs start coming out that the studios will start releasing barebones blu-ray discs and withhold the bonus content for UHDBR.

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

I believe Avatar was filmed in 1080p, so the blu-ray is as good as it's ever going to look. 4K wouldn't benefit it much, if at all.

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

Yeah, that has been historically true, but blu-ray has only seen modest success and home video has been on the decline for years. I don't know if the old rules still apply. I think that if they want...

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

Nothing against the film. It just doesn't seem like the kind of thing that's going to inspire people to invest in a new format.

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

Ender's Game? Sicaro? Last Witch Hunter? Expendables 3?

Way to push the format.

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that 3D UHD isn't possible right now, and that, because of the 3D process, they are all in 1080p.

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

Where's The Fifth Element?

I was positive that that film would be one of the first UHDBRs.

And, yeah, that is an absolute shit lineup. Not a single movie there I would want.

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

I would bet good money that one of Sony's first UHD releases will be The Fifth Element.
