They are actually MP3s, but you have to download the EMusic Download Manager to get any music at all. I'm still having some minor problems getting music with my PC, but the situation has improved...

Warning: EMusic has been having quite a few technical problems that are currently making it difficult to download MP3s. I would recommend waiting a few weeks until they have things worked out.
