Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Or wait until you actually get 3D equipment and be glad you have it then.

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Which is a bad thing, because they also charge extra for smaller 3D movies like Step Up and people don't want to pay premium prices for that.

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

That would sort of be nice, but on the other hand 3D wouldn't be as "special" if EVERYTHING was in 3D. Not everything is even shot in color, as some filmmakers feel black and white works better in...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

I think Sony is also doing passive 3D on their 4K sets. Sadly the store displays lately have been practically useless for checking out the full capability of these TVs, though the 2D demo material...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

As has been mentioned, many new TVs have 3D but they don't flaunt the capability like they used to. Ideally they'd just include it in every TV, and then charge extra for the glasses if they still...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

See, I think it's STUPID to have the aspect ratio shift the way it does in many recent IMAX movies. But that's the way it was shot and how the director wanted it, so who am I to demand they not show...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

3D MIGHT be the thing to get me back into video games, as I used to be an avid video game freak in the 80s but lost interest afterwards. I have all of the Sega Master System 3D games though (like the...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

I wear glasses for nearsightedness, and never have a problem putting 3D glasses over them- sounds like in your situation, 3D just doesn't work for you. They do make polarized clip-ons though which...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Taking this a bit off topic now, but it seems the people running the Cinerama Dome lately don't quite know what they're doing. They had a 70mm showing of "2001" on Sunday that was cancelled because...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Uh, what about 4K IN 3D? Given how many people still can't tell the difference between standard-def and hi-def right now, I'm not putting much faith in 4K but I'll buy it when I can afford it.

My...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Well, they're not running FILMS anymore- and "so few theaters" is a bit of an overstatement- as critical as I am about theater presentation, I haven't seen any theaters mess up 3D specifically. So...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Gotta add this funny anecdote- I read a post from someone who went to a free advance screening of some big movie, which was not in 3D in any shape or form, yet the audience was given 3D glasses as...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

I would want to see the specific movies at the specific theaters (or on the specific equipment) where this "physical discomfort" occurred, with them telling me exactly what caused that discomfort....

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

And you'll notice that ALL of the comments on that article chastised the writer for, once again, crapping on 3D. The writer saying "it's great" that 3D was disappearing has either never seen good 3D...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Because the 3D movies released in the 50s (with a few exceptions) and the 80s were ONLY shown in 3D (though I remember the 80s movies got 2D prints at drive-ins as those couldn't show 3D.) Theaters...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Have that pre-ordered already! How is it that these small companies can put out stuff like that, but DISNEY can't put their big hits out here anymore? The smaller companies overall have handled 3D...

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Let me say it again: If only things I didn't like were crapped on as much as 3D!

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

You can get 3D movies on sale if you just wait patiently- I have almost every 3D title out and rarely paid over $20 for any of them. The new Star Wars will be in 3D so hopefully that'll spur more...
