Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

Yep, I have every King novel in hardcover (and multiple copies of some) but I think I'm finally done. When I decide to get Sleeping Beauties or The Outsider, I think I'm just gonna pick it up on my...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

Did anyone ever pick up Sleeping Beauties
I've been working on my gaming pile so reading is taking a back seat for a bit.

I loved Revival. Great characters, great journey and an amazing...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

Frank Darabont currently owns the rights and swears he's going to make it eventually.

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

11/22/63 is epic and up there with the Stand and It for me. Truly a modern classic that fits alongside his greats.

The Green Mile is brilliant, but if you've seen the movie you won't be...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

It is kind of odd that King can't seem to get a sci-fi book 'right.' Both Tommyknockers and Dreamcather are terrible.

I'd put Under the Dome and 11/22/63 up there with the best of his classic...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

Good list Mr. Flix. Odd you thought Finders Keepers as "Fair." Did you not read Mr. Mercedes first? Also, I felt Full Dark, No Stars was one of his strongest collections in years.

Skelton Crew...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

Time for a break between novels to bang out some unique/oddities:

Guns - A non-fiction essay looking at gun violence in America and our obsession with guns. Early in the essay he lays out...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

The Tommyknockers: Just finished reading Tommyknockers, or should I say 'slogging' through it. Took far longer than usual. I went in optimistic (despite everyone's insistance that it was bad) but...

Summer Reading Roundup: Batch 2

Finders Keepers Bill Hodges is back...sorta, in the middle chapter of the trilogy. This is easily the best of the three. Fantastic story about a murdered author...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

True, but I wouldn't say they are scary. Not much different than a Patterson crime mystery. There are only two real "events" in Mr. Mercedes. The setup and something about mid-way through the book....

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

I can second Eyes of the Dragon, Green Mile and Different Seasons.

I'll add the Bill Hodges Trilogy(Mr Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch) even though I haven't gotten to End of Watch yet. ...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

Early summer book review roundup:

It: Still a modern classic and still epic as ever. I hope the new movie does it justice and doesn't just devolve into a run-of-the-mill modern horror flick. A+

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

I quite liked Gwendy. Great little story, better than any story in Bazaar of Bad Dreams but yeah, high price of entry for one short novella. So stick to the ebook if you aren't into collecting,...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

Ironically enough I didn't remember anything about it, given the story's use of 'memory' as a plot element. I first read it when I was around 16, fairly close to the Loser's Club ages. Now...

Re: The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

King has two new books in the works for 2017, both collaborations. First up is Gwendy's Button Box which just came out this week. It's a 170pp novella going for a full novel price:

The Stephen King Catch-All Potpourri Thread

I searched but didn't really see a general thread, so here we are. Not every book garners (or needs to) its own thread so I figured we could just toss some random thoughts, news or whatnot here.
