By the way, because there's devotees of Shure cartridges and the M97xE is discontinued, I have no doubt you could get at least $50 for it on E-bay as is.

I really dig it, and it's a very popular cart. A lot of the Technics "retro" turntables now come with the 2M Red standard. Of course, I don't have every cart in that price range to do an A-B (C-D...)...

If that's what it is, it did you a favor; that Shure sure sounded like shit even when it worked. I noticed a massive improvement with the Ortofon Red. $99 on Amazon, and worth every penny.
