Re: Longlegs (2024, W/D: Osgood Perkins) S: Maika Monroe, Nicolas Cage

I'm so excited for this. I've enjoyed all of the Oz Perkins films I've seen so far, Blackcoat's Daughter is a masterpiece.

Re: Scream 7 (D: Williamson)

What a trainwreck. I've been a longtime Scream fan but I didn't enjoy the last two sequels very much, the writing just seemed so low-effort. The way the studio has mistreated the stars and...

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan) -- The Reviews Thread

I could do without most of them but the actress that plays Phoebe has been the highlight of the last two films for me, so I'm glad she's there.

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan) -- The Reviews Thread

I liked it, younger viewers had Phoebe to relate to and folks closer to my age had Rudd. This movie felt like it was giving both generations development instead of just being another pass-the-torch...

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan) -- The Reviews Thread

Actors play younger/older than their age pretty regularly and Rudd looks young and has obviously taken good care of himself. Did you not get the "new-to-fatherhood" theme with his character in this...

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan) -- The Reviews Thread

Rudd is the surrogate for the audience who grew up watching Ghostbusters but now are adults and learning how to be parents.

re: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024, D: Tim Burton) S: Keaton, Ryder, Ortega, O'Hara

I'm 38 and wearing a T-Shirt at work even though collars are required. I just spilled ranch on it.

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan)

I'm concerned about the amount of popcorn that thing can hold.

Re: The Crow (2024, D: Sanders) -- S: Bill Skarsgard

These movies are all for angsty teenagers, y'all are just old now.

Re: The Watchers (2024, D: I Night Shyamalan) - S: D. Fanning

It's based on a book so if there's a twist it should be out there on the internet.

Re: SNL 1975 (D: Reitman)

I haven't seen that one but I enjoyed her in both Shiva Baby and Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Re: "Evil Dead Rise" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I liked this one a lot because of its darker edge. The setting was a much needed change of pace as the cabin thing is just played out. Also the fact that the characters are a likable family instead...

Re: "Talk to Me" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

My mom passed away just under two years ago so this one was a lot for me to process. I was definitely ugly crying by the end, but in a good way. The film was very well done and emotionally...

Re: "Terror at Tenkiller" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I know this isn't a great film, but I don't think it deserves its reputation as one of the worst slashers of all time. Halloween is the film that kind of kickstarted the slasher subgenre, but the...

Re: "Ringu" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I love J-Horror from this era, they excel at atmosphere and dread, which are two of my favorite vibes of a horror film. I like moody slow burns and this film along with Pulse, Ju-On, Dark Water, etc....

Re: "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I've always enjoyed this one but this is the first time I noticed the influence from the Universal Monster films. Jason really feels larger than life, less of a backwoods hillbilly and more...

Re: "Ebola Syndrome" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

This is the second time I've seen it and I honestly think it's hilarious. It's so ridiculously repugnant that it goes way beyond offending me and just making me laugh.

Re: "Dementia" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

This was a nice change of pace. I wonder what was the reasoning for making this a "silent" film. Surely talkies were the norm by this period of film history. It's always interesting to see how...
