Very true. At this point amazon.com is giving the best deals for Blu-Rays, DVDs & Music--in fact they appear to be going after the Blu Ray market very aggressively: 2001 Blu Ray was $7.99 for weeks....

The 33% off coupons are useful for stuff which normally lists under $18 and where you use the ship-to-store option to get free shipping.

Just tried the coupon with both the regular and the blu ray editions of Criterion Collection Paris texas and it worked fine.

It's a progression: Borders and Barnes & Nobles (with Best Buy, Walmart, etc.) drove the Record Retailers (Tower, Virgin, etc.) out of business by stocking music and videos as well as books.

I wouldn't jump ship just yet from Borders--read the full article from FT MergerMarket and you will see Pershing Square's loan comes due in April 2010--that should be the next hurdle for Borders.

The $10 off $30 is the MUCH BETTER deal IF you purchase items ALREADY ON SALE.

For example, I purchased two blu rays normally priced $38.99 but ON SALE for $14.99 each.

Barnes & Nobles needs to get competitive

As annoying as the Borders.com website is to use they get most of my business now as they just give better deals for what I want to buy--rather than the selected titles that all sites try to drive...
