Re: Cancelled sequels that you were looking forward to?

I need a "Hellboy 3" more than any other movie.

re: Edge of Tomorrow - Live, Die, Repeat (Liman, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

It's really great. Unexpectedly dark humor. Never read the book, but thought the story was engaging. Liked the idea of a cowardly hero. McQuarrie knows how to write for Cruise, especially the humor...

Re: Godzilla (Edwards, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

There's also a running theme that humans are pretty much bystanders in this. Their lack of knowledge is one of the more compelling aspects of the movie. Sure we don't get a lot of exposition, but I'd...

Re: Godzilla (Edwards, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

My answer for that is... he's the Alpha predator, in the same way as Predator is. Or the same way as an alpha bear rules over all the other bears and challenges anyone who gets in his way. It's made...

Re: Godzilla (Edwards, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

Is this the specific shot you're talking about? http://cdn.bleedingcool.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Screen-Shot-2014-02-25-at-21.27.24.png?9098e0

If so I don't think I remember seeing it in the...

Re: Godzilla (Edwards, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

Interesting question. There isn't any gory violence. Though there are some pretty terrifying scenes. I wouldn't take a kid under 10 to it, but I don't think I'd discourage people to not take their...

Re: Godzilla (Edwards, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

Such a great blockbuster. Really, it is. Edwards gets just about everything right. The fight scenes are less destruction porn, and more of a homage to the old films. Alexander Desplat's score is one...

Re: UNDER THE SKIN (2013) (dir. Jonathan Glazer) (Scarlett Johansson, Paul Brannigan)

One of the best, most bizarre, most frightening, best directed movies I've seen in years.

Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

Also, you know, he believes The Creator is on his side.

Watchers aren't demons either.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014; D: The Russo Brothers)

Saw this last night. It's decent. I'm not a hardcore Marvel geek though, so my view is always an outlier compared to the Marvel following. I thought it was better than the first. A movie I didn't...

Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

Just got out a screening of this. It's indeed extremely ambitious, visual, and quite stunningly constructed. I loved just about everything it had to offer. Aronofsky's interpretations of the story...

Re: Sabotage (2014) -- S: Schwarzenneger, Worthington, D: David Ayer

I'm seeing this tonight. I have no idea what I'm hoping for. I guess not ESCAPE PLAN. That's what I'm hoping for. Just not ESCAPE PLAN.

Re: 300: Rise of an Empire (2014, D: Murro)

THE ONLY reason "300: Rise of an Empire" might be worth seeing is because of Eva Green. I'm beginning to think of her as the Nic Cage of actresses. This isn't an insult either. Like Cage the crazier...

Re: Non-Stop (2014) D: Collet-Serra; S: Neeson, Moore, Mount, Dockery

Implausibility is fine if it's done creatively. With "Non-stop" it just feels like an also-ran. Like you'd be better off watching "Passenger 57" again.

Re: Non-Stop (2014) D: Collet-Serra; S: Neeson, Moore, Mount, Dockery

This movie was pretty dull all the way around. Nothing much for Neeson to do in a cramped plane, so he runs around yelling at people most the time. The entire movie feels like it's painting itself...

Re: Movie Posters

Framing can be as expensive as you want it to be. Custom framing can run you quite a bit, but if you're just wanting something that's a step up from sticky-tack then a frame from Target should do you...

Re: The Protector 2 (Tony Jaa's latest) -- 2014

As long as they one-up the elaborately staged tracking shot in the first one - make it like 15 minutes or something - then this will be totally worth it.

That tracking shot in "The Protector" is...
