Re: Pink Floyd catalog to be reissued, with unreleased tracks!

Re: Pink Floyd catalog to be reissued, with unreleased tracks!

Spun the Alan Parsons mix of DSOTM the other night and enjoyed it.

Some of the songs are pretty much the same, but others are less developed and do sound pretty demo-y. Definitely worth a listen...

Re: Wilco - The Whole Love - Sep 27

For me it's just tame to the point of being borderline adult contemporary, and like I mentioned before I thought that Nels Cline was kept on a very short leash to the album's detriment. You and I in...

Re: Wilco - The Whole Love - Sep 27

I've been enjoying this, definitely a step up over Wilco (the album) and I'm glad to see Tweedy let Nels do his thing on a few of the tracks, especially the opening cut.

Re: R.E.M. is over

Seems like a good idea to me, go out while they were still creatively vital to some degree. Really though they hadn't been relevant to the majority of the music listening public in a long time.

Re: Movies With Scores Composed By Musicians, NOT Composers

Whale Rider popped into my head shortly after my post, I'd say it counts, but Gladiator probably not since Hans Zimmer did most of the score.

Re: Rolling Stone's Worst Songs of the '90s

Yeah if you can't recognize that Boyz II Men and Whitney Houston (in her prime) were talented vocalists, regardless of whether you like them, you probably need to clean your ears out.

Re: Rolling Stone's Worst Songs of the '90s

Surely one of Sugar Ray's craptastic singles deserves a spot on the list.

As for my personal worst song of the decade, I have to go with Soul Asylum's Runaway Train. Most whiny song ever?

Re: Radiohead: TKOL RMX (Remix Collection) - Sept 16th

I agree most remixes suck but every once in a while one either improves on the original or totally recasts it to make an entirely new work.

Fixed is indeed great, another that I really liked was...

Re: Prince, what's the big deal?

Disagree, I think the guitar solo in Batdance is pretty mind blowing.

Re: The Tree of Life (Malick, 2011) - The Reviews Thread

It's funny, since I watched it I've really enjoyed thinking about this movie's themes and subtexts.

In particular the scene where Jack shoots his brother in the hand, and the betrayal of the deep...

Re: Tree of Life (Malick, 2011): Brad Pitt and Sean Penn

I saw it last night and it already felt to me like it was about six hours long.

I can respect it as a piece of art, but for me it just dragged too much to be enjoyable.

At times it seemed...

Re: The Most Unintentionally Hilarious Scenes in Dramatic Movies

I still can't quite figure out whether it was intentional or not, but the sex scene between Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre II in Watchmen sure is hilarious.

Re: Def Leppard - "Mirrorball" - 6/7/11 - first-ever live album

I saw them a couple years ago and I could be wrong but most of the vocals sounded canned to me.
