Re: Facebook Poll: Best "Best Picture" Winner of the 21st Century?

Spotlight is my favorite of the bunch, with NCFOM and Birdman relatively close.

Re: Disney's Aladdin (2019, D: Ritchie) S: Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott

I thought that was 100x better than the awful teaser. I think Genie is fine, the prince joke got a decent laugh from me. I still don't see that guy as Jafar though. I don't know if it's his look or...

re: Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021, D: Jason Reitman)

I still don't understand why the 2016 version didn't just set itself in the same universe. You had all the original (living) actors willing, or obligated, to do cameos so why not just make it a...

Re: The Predator (2018 -- w/d: Shane Black)

But that it’s nasty (and not in a good way), that it pisses away the Predators as a threat (we get one just firing a standard gun at one point. A Predator, a lethal hunter, just left firing a gun),...

Re: Big Brother (CBS) -- Season 20

They have to be the worst alliance in BB history though, right? This will be the third time one of their own alliance members gets evicted while they're HOH either due to being easily...

Re: Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018, D: Sandel)

I enjoyed the first one as a 90's kid who used to be obsessed with Goosebumps (shoutout to elementary school book fairs). I thought it was fun and Black was great as Stine. But that trailer didn't do...

RoboCop Returns (TBA, D: Blomkamp)

Based off of an old script that was supposed to be a direct sequel to the original RoboCop.

The plot: Anarchy reigns and the fate of Detroit hangs in the balance as RoboCop makes his triumphant...

Re: Gotti (2018) D: Kevin Connolly, S: John Travolta

I refuse to believe a bad movie's marketing strategy would include gaming a user rating system.

Re: Hereditary (2018, D: Aster) S: Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Ann Dowd

I'll echo this one as well. Saw it yesterday during a matinee with a thankfully small and quiet audience. One of my favorite horror movies in years. Loved the build, loved the finale. I liked this...

Re: Halloween (2018, D: David Gordon Green) - from Blumhouse & Carpenter - S: Curtis

H20 is my favorite sequel in the whole series. Then they totally went off the rails with Resurrection.

Re: Halloween (2018, D: David Gordon Green) - from Blumhouse & Carpenter - S: Curtis

That's so weird, I've never heard a single person call it H-Twenty before.

H-Two-Oh or bust.

re: Bohemian Rhapsody (2018, D: Singer or Fletcher) S: Rami Malek -- Queen biopic

That looks great. Solid music mixing too, made me want to listen to their albums when I was finished with the trailer. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: The 90th Academy Awards --> 2018 Awards Show Discussion

Right. That's how most of my friends are - Best Picture, Best Director, and the four acting categories. And a lot of people aren't going to spend 4 hours waiting to see those categories revealed...

Re: The 90th Academy Awards --> 2018 Awards Show Discussion

I'm sure many people don't watch because of the politics. I'm sure others don't watch because they haven't seen any of the movies nominated (except Get Out). It's also way too long, and 75% of the...

Re: Has a movie made you cry for one reason or another?

The end of Big Fish where the son finishes the father's story gets me every time I see it.

Re: Venom (2018, D: Ruben Fleischer) S: Tom Hardy

How do you release a teaser for a Venom movie that doesn't have a single shot of Venom in it? Sony is so worthless.

Re: Phantom Thread (2017, Paul Thomas Anderson) S: Daniel Day-Lewis, Vicky Krieps

Yeah, I saw on Twitter that even with a small expansion this past weekend and 6 Oscar nominations, it still dropped 11% at the box office.

Re: Phantom Thread (2017, Paul Thomas Anderson) S: Daniel Day-Lewis, Vicky Krieps

Just saw where this is being released for purchase on iTunes and Amazon this Friday. Pretty quick turnaround, kind of surprised me.

Re: 2018 Oscar Nominations

I know there's a lot of Three Billboards dislike on this forum, but damn I hope Sam Rockwell wins an Oscar. Love he's getting all of this recognition.

Re: Movies you’re perplexed got an Oscar nomination or win?

The King's Speech over The Social Network was a joke. I still haven't figured that out.

Re: 2018 Oscar Nominations

McDonagh not getting nominated for director makes me think Shape of Water is now the favorite for BP. I've thought it was a two-horse race all along, I don't think any of the other films have enough...

Re: Downsizing (2017, D: Alexander Payne) S: Damon, Wiig, Waltz, Chau

Paul Giamatti originally being the lead was interesting to me too. I think he would've been a better "down-on-his-luck every man" than Matt Damon. Would've been much more difficult to market with...

re: Downsizing (2017, D: Alexander Payne) S: Damon, Wiig, Waltz, Chau

I love Alexander Payne. I don’t think he’s ever made a movie I disliked. And I enjoyed this one too. It’s certainly not on the level of Sideways or About Schmidt, but not much is. I still think...
