I've never really understood all the controversy. It's a story of humanity, love, and ultimately making the right choice. Like most things, it was the people who hadn't seen it that were outraged.

Well, I guess that might silence a few doubters on the Blu-ray thread who said there was no way Universal would handle a release of it in the US. I don't recall if the leaked list that appeared...

Maybe in the US they have a problem with it, or more likely Universal just didn't think it would sell well enough to bother with it so there was more money to be made by letting Criterion deal with...
