Re: Elementary -- "Blood Is Thicker" -- 11/14/13

Sherlock Holmes worked best in short stories. I am in awe of the creativity Conan Doyle possessed in writing so many great short mysteries. It seems few modern writers have his ability to provide...

Re: Arrow -- "Keep Your Enemies Closer" -- 11/13/13

Thank you for posting these each week. I think we all appreciate the time you take - I certainly do.
Please consider writing it like this, which flows better when read:

Actors:
Audrey Marie...

Re: Castle -- "A Murder Is Forever" -- 11/11/13

The show doesn't need any specific character, but they all contribute to it. They don't need to get rid of her (the character), just use her in a better ways. I hated Gates at first, but they used...

Re: Castle -- "Number One Fan" -- 10/14/13

The mayor influencing hiring decisions would look bad. The commissioner doing the same, within his own organization, would be harder to spot and easier to justify.

Re: Hawaii Five-O -- "A' ale Ma'a Wau" -- 10/04/13

I read that and figured Chuck Norris was guest starring, which would have been cool.

Re: Castle -- "Dreamworld" -- 9/30/13

That's how I felt the moment she left NY. Once you know that her new partner has a three show contract, you even know roughly when she is coming back.

Re: Castle -- "Dreamworld" -- 9/30/13

I'm glad Castle and not his daughter or mother were poisoned. If one of them had been, it would have been a tense show, because they COULD have been killed off. When the lead is poisoned in the...

Re: The Mentalist (CBS) -- Red John: The Final Chapter -- Series Thread

Both. :)

I too will be annoyed. To be positive though, I am glad they are wrapping up the storyline in a planned way, not in a "we just got cut, and have 40 minutes left to work with" way.

Re: Your Top 5 TV Series of All Time?

Great topic, good for viewing ideas. So hard not to cheat my dividing, or grouping. :)

Murder She Wrote
Veronica Mars
Scrubs
Star Trek TNG
Batman (1960s sitcom version)

Honourable Mentions...

Re: Elementary -- 2 Hour Season Finale -- "The Woman/Heroine" -- 5/16/13

The Mentalist already shot his opponent, then turned out to have shot a guy filling in for the main antagonist of the series. I hope Elementary doesn't do that.

I would like to see Moriarty pull...

Re: Hawaii Five-O -- Season Finale -- "Aloha. Malama Pono" -- 5/20/13

Get Smart would have been cool. Someone pulling out a lightsaber would have been more in keeping with H50, but the series of doors plus a phone booth would have been epic.

Re: Do you hate a TV season ending on a cliffhanger?

I was going to post the same things. I agree completely.

Crossovers make no sense to me, because for cancelled shows punish they people who DID watch, and for renewed shows ... the already had...

Re: Hawaii Five-O -- "He welo 'oihana" -- 5/13/13

IIRC, during S01E01 or S01E02, Steve talks about how his dad called them 5-0s to make the family feel more at home on Hawaii. Park's character said the team should be called that.

It is an...

Re: CBS Announces 2013 Fall Schedule

Thanks for answering. I don't understand though. If people in their fifties are a hard group to reach, and a show is reaching them, that sounds like a valuable opportunity.

Re: CBS Announces 2013 Fall Schedule

Why are fifty year olds a bad demographic to attract? Isn't that a growing age bracket in North America?

From what I can see of the schedule, all of my favourite CBS shows - Elementary, Blue...

Re: Castle -- Season Finale -- "Watershed" -- 5/13/13

You folks summarized the problems very well:

1. Castle sits beside her on bomb - clearly committed.
2. Castle is a writer, and his daughter is away at school - he can follow Beckett anywhere on...

Re: Castle -- "The Human Factor" -- 5/06/13

The cast are still doing a great job, but the writing has gone off a cliff lately. They are trying so hard to have a cliffhanger that it is past annoying and into sad territory.

Why does a show...

Re: The Mentalist -- Season Finale -- "Red John's Rules" -- 5/05/13

I stopped watching the series in case it ended prematurely on a cliffhanger (hate cliffhangers).

If it ends well, I'll buy up the DVDs. I'm glad things are heading in the right direction.

Re: Hawaii Five-O -- "Imi loko ka 'uhane" -- 4/29/13

As long as it is fun and entertaining, I don't care if Hawaii Five-O is a logical, tightly-written series. I like the description I read here near the beginning of its run - science fiction without...

Re: Castle -- "Still" -- 4/29/13

Signs of bad television writing:

Episode n - guy remains beside his girlfriend while she is stuck to a bomb, risking his own life to stay with her.

Episode n+1 - girl wonders if guy is...

Re: Castle -- "The Squab and the Quail" -- 4/22/13

I haven't watched Castle in a while (switched to watching on DVD) but caught this one, and barley made it through. This episode was as bad as the last few of season 4 - it's like the writers can't...
