Re: James Clavell's Shogun - Limited Series (FX) - premieres 2/27/24

This really took a disappointing turn around mid series and never recovered. The writing just wasn’t that sharp, with too many nonsensical turns. Beautifully shot, decently acted. Started strong but...

Re: Masters of the Air (Apple TV+) — From Spielberg, Hanks, Goetzman — premieres 1/26/24

In the camp of this was disappointing. Huge potential but after learning that Rosie flew 53 missions he should have been the focal point of the series. Too many characters who didn’t feel like we got...

Re: Unpopular Opinion - Video Game/Gaming Edition

It took the series from survival horror to essentially an action game with zombies. It got rid of the horror element and introduced a convoluted story. I hated the setting as well.

Re: Unpopular Opinion - Video Game/Gaming Edition

1. Nintendo was playing the correct game, chasing graphics will end up causing the next video game crash. Microsoft won't make it past the next gen (if they make it at all to it) and Sony need to...

Re: The Official METAL! Thread- Metalcore, Thrash, Progressive, Death, and MORE

I see more and more women at metal shows recently, so the scene seems to be more accepting (or just less douchbaggy about it).

One interesting experience I had was when I went to Tokyo and...

Re: What's your Unpopular Music Opinion?

To me Down is way better than the best Pantera stuff and Superjoint Ritual was fantastic as well. He also has a black metal band called Scour which is surprisingly good too.

I’m in the same...

Re: What's your Unpopular Music Opinion?

Eh, Pantera were just another in a line of sub genres of metal that brought in the “bro” crowd. Hair metal before them, nu metal annd metalcore after them. The opinion I have about Pantera is that...

Re: How old will you be when you give up gaming?

I'm 40 with three young(er) kids, 10, 7, and 1. While I can't play long story based game anymore due to time, I still enjoy playing multiplayer games that you can pick up and put down within 30...

Re: What's your Unpopular Music Opinion?

I think the death metal revival that started around 2015 is starting to die down a bit and black metal is having a renaissance. Guess another unpopular take of mine is the early BM stuff out of...

Re: What's your Unpopular Music Opinion?

I actually came across someone recently with an interesting take on band tshirts in that he hates tour tshirts. Meaning tshirts with the tour dates on the back. Said it was the lamest thing and he...

Re: What's your Unpopular Music Opinion?

You don't even have to look hard, just get off Spotify recommendations and go into Bandcamp for whatever genre you want. Every Friday I go onto Bandcamp and scroll through the metal releases. Tons...

Re: James Clavell's Shogun - Limited Series (FX) - premieres 2/27/24

I agree, something about his acting mannerism in the role seem....off. I can't describe it.

I do wonder if they will ever mention what happens to the rest of his crew still in the hole haha

Re: WWE 2K24 (Visual Concepts;PS/Xbox/PC; 3/5/24)

Popped in WWE2k22 today to see if I could scratch the itch I have with that rather than buying 2k23 and was surprised to find out the servers have already been shutdown. Holy crap that was fast, is...

Re: Deadwood *Series Finale* - "Tell Him Something Pretty" - 8/27/06

For me Deadwood remains a top 5 show. Perfect acting and I don't agree with the assessment of the story. While I really liked the movie and how it wrapped things up (seriously, a movie made that...

Re: Masters of the Air (Apple TV+) — From Spielberg, Hanks, Goetzman — premieres 1/26/24

Maybe it's me, but I could really use some dates to go along with events. I understand this isn't as documentaryish as BoB, but I have no sense of time. Has it been 3 months or a year. My biggest...

Re: SNL 02/24/24 (S49E12) — H: Shane Gillis - MG: 21 Savage

He seemed super nervous during that monologue, which is weird for a comedian that has had as many specials as he has. He also tripped up alot on his lines throughout the show. The monologue and the...

re: WWE 2K24 (Visual Concepts;PS/Xbox/PC; 3/5/24)

How fast do these fall in price? Noticed 2k23 is 19.99 currently. It would be cool to have the wrestlemania storyline, but $40 difference is tempting

Re: The increasingly tricky business of video games

Not sure how skipped over your response, but yea exactly haha. I do hope Switch 2 pushes us a bit closer to mid cycle PS4 graphics though. I also hope they figure out the joycon issue (and forget...

Re: The increasingly tricky business of video games

This may be an unpopular opinion but I really think Nintendo has set them self up well for long term success by not chasing the graphics route but pacing their hardware while finding other ways to...

Re: EA Sports College Football to return

Yea, I don't give a shit, do that. The NCAA games were also a testing ground for new features before they went into Madden which I thought was fun. I don't give a crap if they just release one of...

Re: Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Amazon) - S: Donald Glover, Maya Erskine - premieres 2/2/24

Never saw the movie, enjoyed this although I thought the pacing was a bit off. The transformation into a relationship was two episodes and the transformation out was one. Almost seems that could have...

Re: Masters of the Air (Apple TV+) — From Spielberg, Hanks, Goetzman — premieres 1/26/24

Yea the frame was alot less complicated than the planes of today. Alot of it was like legos, remove and replace. They also didn't have heavy, armored material so they could fly longer distances so...

Re: The Marvels (2023, D: DaCosta) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

Re: The Official METAL! Thread- Metalcore, Thrash, Progressive, Death, and MORE

I'm 100% fine with obsessive labeling of genres in metal. Because when I find a band I like and I want to know similar bands to that sound, I don't want to get recommended Dying Fetus and Five Finger...

Re: The Official METAL! Thread- Metalcore, Thrash, Progressive, Death, and MORE

I'm pretty good about hearing and knowing what various metal subgenre bands fit into, but I can't for the life of me figure out what makes war metal war metal. You think singing about war would be a...
