Re: Queen: Live at The Rainbow '74 September 9th (multiple formats)

So...an SD Blu? Isn't that the same as a DVD? Nice to get it all on one disc, I suppose, but it seems like a waste.

Re: Seeking Advice

I suppose eBay. I would also prepare myself for some serious disappointment regarding the value of any particular DVD. What you think it's worth and what folks actually want to pay tend to be two...

Between the MFSL Tommy and Live at Leeds Deluxe, I've got this covered.

Re: Out-Of-Print Titles (recently discovered) [2nd thread]

Nobody knows yet. The presumption is that something happened to the deal with Amazon, but no official word.

Re: TCM releases: DVD vs. DVD-R?

The Sony sets are always pressed discs, regardless of age. For the longest time, the Universal sets were initially pressed, then reverted to MOD as the first print run sold out. However, the last...

Re: Is it the right time to buy a Blu Ray player?

There are any number of people who will suggest that Blu is the last home video format we're likely to see for quite some time. Not so much a tech issue but the fact that folks are turning to...

Re: Adam West says that Batman(60s) dvds may be near

The only problem I have with public domain is that the quality elements sit in a vault, never to be used. We have example after example of what a public domain release looks like and it's rarely...

Re: Steaming, Physical Media, and the Future of Home Video

People stopped buying discs well before Bluray "won the war". Folks forget that. It's also difficult for the studios to push Bluray when a large segment of the buying public doesn't feel like...

Re: Westworld 11/10 re-release...? anamorphic

Huh...the original release was always anamorphic, why wouldn't the reissue be as well?

Re: What DVD's 1rst prompted you to get a Region Free DVD player?

The region 2 Russ Meyer collection pushed me over the edge. Given how the estate has been completely mismanaged here in region 1 land, going region-free seemed like the only good answer. Amazingly,...

Re: Star Wars - I, II & III DVD Prices?

Which implies, at minimum, at least another 7 years without the original trilogy coming out, since its unlikely Disney would just hand that over to Fox for release. So much for that pipe dream.

Re: Well it's about time (Alan Ladd Noir titles)

Well, one thing I know is that the original box from December has the wrong UPC printed on it. I discovered that when dealing with my cataloging software.

Re: Star Wars - I, II & III DVD Prices?

Don't bother giving them the benefit of the doubt that's its the full-frame negative image...we're talking pan and scan all the way. Basically, it seems like when the DVD train pulled into the...

Re: Star Wars - I, II & III DVD Prices?

Obviously you guys have never dealt extensively with Disney deep catalog titles if you don't get the joke. Disney is, hands down, one of the worst offenders in this area.

Re: Star Wars - I, II & III DVD Prices?

It wouldn't shock me if they put out a box set in the fall. After making the investment, it just makes sense to start cashing in as soon as possible. After all, they just have to find one...

As far as I know, there's only really been one version, it just keeps getting repackaged.

Re: Amazon 12/1 DOTD - Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection $34.99

A lot of states have passed the tax law and the deal is simply if the online vendor has a physical presense in your state, you get charged tax. Amazon has warehouses all over the country, therefore...

Re: Three Stooges Rare Treausres NOW to be available as a MOD/DVD-R selection on 1/1/

Yeah, that's why I ordered mine off of Amazon for about 22 bucks. A little more than I wanted to pay but still a lot less than buying the entire darn thing all over again and the discs are pressed.

Re: Godzilla vs Biollante

There's supposed to be a followup edition with extras, so FYI. I also read somewhere that the December 4 date has been pushed back.

Re: Godzilla vs Megalon - Media Blasters - 14 Aug 2012

Sounds like everybody has blown through their reprint stock at this point. With any luck, they'll get the features cleared through Toho and be able to release this properly.

Re: Godzilla vs Megalon - Media Blasters - 14 Aug 2012

Commentary, galleries, an interview, trailers and an easter egg of over 30 minutes worth of domestic trailers for all kinds of Japanese sci-fi over the years stitched together.

It's pretty darn...

Re: Godzilla vs Megalon - Media Blasters - 14 Aug 2012

One thing's for sure, between the DAM thing and now this, you can bet that Toho will never let them put out a proper special edition Blu of Megalon. Regardless of which SD version you get, get them...
