Re: What's Your Stash Worth? Or Do I Really Need My Physical Media?

I have some 200+ TV series and about 2000+ movies.

Value to sell: Probably not much except a few rarer titles.
Value to me: Priceless.

Re: What's Your Stash Worth? Or Do I Really Need My Physical Media?

I'm too lazy to sell on ebay. However, there are a few trade-in places still around that offer free shipping where you could at least get some idea what their willing to pay. I believe they include...

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Thanks. Yes, I've checked Amazon. I guess the issue is that there are so many to choose from ranging anywhere from $15 to $35+ per glasses that it is hard to know which to choose. Some rechargeable...

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Hello, I currently own a Sony VPL-HW10 projector that I picked up back in 2009 (I believe it may have been the last of the Sony projectors that wasn't 3D capable). Thus, I have been missing out on 3D...

Re: Projector or large TV?

I'm guessing that isn't an option. Otherwise, why wouldn't he just put the funds together to get the 4K projector of interest.

Re: Projector or large TV?

I built my HT back in 2004 using a Sharp 10K projector. Unfortunately, it only lasted a little over 5 years. I currently have a Sony VPLHW10. My only complaint is that it was before Sony supported...

Re: Receivers, what is the point.

Not just surround sound, but better overall sound with stand-alone speakers, as well as greater control over volume levels across speakers. I find that with just stereo TV speakers and a source that...

Re: DVD Rot ?

I agree that a player's error correction capability may manifest into pauses and skips if overwhelmed by the extent of errors on a disk. However, it most likely is getting through less extensive...

Re: DVD Rot ?

I ran into this issue several years back. I had Shout! replace a few disks from my "Leave It to Beaver" complete series set. As previously mentioned, the likely suspects are disks in slim cases and...

Re: 9/13 Universal Monsters Legacy Collections

Detail is detail, both b/w and color can take advantage of being upgraded to blu-ray. That said, it is still the quality of the source material that determines how much benefit we get going from...

Re: Upconverter or Blu-ray Player for Best Picture Quality of DVDs ?

The Oppo BD-93 used the Marvell QDEO video processor. However, I do not recall if the move away from ABT VRS was because QDEO was better or for other technical or licensing issues. I don't think Oppo...

Re: Upconverter or Blu-ray Player for Best Picture Quality of DVDs ?

As I alluded to in my previous response:

"It all depends on the processing included to handle the deinterlacing and upscaling of the SD content, so the best idea is to look for a blu-ray player...

Re: Upconverter or Blu-ray Player for Best Picture Quality of DVDs ?

Just being a blu-ray player doesn't automatically mean DVDs play better than a traditional DVD player. It all depends on the processing included to handle the deinterlacing and upscaling of the SD...

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Has anyone been trading media (DVDs, Blu-rays) into Amazon lately? It would appear that they are not accepting anything at this time. Several years back I had some success getting value back on my...

Re: Dracula & The Mummy Legacy sets on May 16th

For the DVD complete set they did just that, included multiple copies of some disks, as Bob stated. So no it is not safe to say they won't do the same thing for a complete blu-ray set. While it may...

Re: The Wolf Man: Complete Legacy Collection - $14.99 pre order @ bestbuy.com

Possible, but not likely based on what Universal did when they released the last comprehensive DVD set (talking about duplication). It is just easier to combine all the individual monster sets in a...

I will check.

Edit: The label for disk 1 is: THRILLER_DISC1

Also note the discs are paired in slim double disc clear cases. The case covers are two sided with episodes listed (w/ air date and...

Re: Boris Karloff - Thriller 14 DVD Box $27.50-$29.99 on Ebay Almost Sold Out

My guess is that if they used dual layer disks the price probably wouldn't be nearly as right. Also, they have to realize they will get a certain number of returns as some realize what they got.

I...

Re: Boris Karloff - Thriller 14 DVD Box $27.50-$29.99 on Ebay Almost Sold Out

Just put the disk in a computer drive, right click the drive, select properties, and check the capacity. If the capacity is under 4.5GB then it is single layer. Anything greater and up to 8GB would...

Re: Boris Karloff - Thriller 14 DVD Box $27.50-$29.99 on Ebay Almost Sold Out

I have the set and they are definitely dual layer disks in the original. It is unfortunate how the whole counterfeit aspects has changed to where the fakes can look just as good as the originals in...

Re: What DVD's 1rst prompted you to get a Region Free DVD player?

What finally got me to get a region free blu-ray player was "Streets of Fire" and the 1960's UK TV show "The Avengers".

Re: Region Free BD Player - Best combination of player and price

I wouldn't say immune. My Oppo has a hardware mod that stopped supporting region free blu-rays for a time due to a firmware update. Luckily a later firmware update resolve the issue.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
