Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

This was another of the tougher years to get time in front of the tv some days. The last week or so was better, especially this past weekend. But the best part is we found a few more movies that my...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I've got one more movie needed to complete the checklist. Not bad considering I had pretty much written it off this year until Friday. Hope to get that in when I get home from work this afternoon....

Mani is Mark Dacascos of Double Dragon and I am Omega fame! (I know, Iron Chef, John Wick 3 and Hawaii Five-0 are probably far more recognizable)

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

October really snuck up on me this year. I've had my head elsewhere between things going on with the family and heavy work demands the last few months. I think I'm going to avoid setting any real...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Caught Vicious Fun this morning. I'm not sure I'm going to want to come back to it much, but it sure was a good time for a first time watch. This time of the month, unless it is a favorite, that is...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I feel like people wind up being way too easy on it or too harsh. It isn't as good as the original like some people say nor is it terrible. I would say there is a good time to be had in the movie....

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Got most of the harder to hit parts of the checklist knocked out and started to think of my foreign language horror flicks to watch. The first four that came to mind are all in Spanish...not sure...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I rather enjoy Elseworlds stories. Assuming they are otherwise well-done, of course. And yet, I still found Brightburn unenjoyable.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

This made me smile considering your title includes "Comic Nerd" :)

I haven't watched it, but maybe I'll get it into the queue. I honestly forgot about it. Is it a good horror movie that makes...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

With my late start, I've been focusing on the categories of the checklist I always wind up struggling to knock out at the end of the challenge. Once I knock out the writers, I'll probably pop in a...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

About a week into the challenge in earnest for me. Last night we watched Ghostbusters Afterlife because my wife likes the band of kids thing. And honestly, I had high hopes for it and was quite...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

My wife doesn't like most horror movies, either. She likes stuff where children are fighting against something like Monster Squad, The Lost Boys, etc and she likes some of the lighter humorous stuff....

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Thanks Chad and Hamilton/GW!
I haven't even gotten the chance to catch up with the thread so far. We were hosting my wife's parents last week so I only got one movie in last week. But hey, it is...

Re: "Planet Terror" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I suspect they braced her knee gave her some kind of boot. I think you would get the same clunky heavy response from someone wearing the type of range-limited knee brace they give you after surgery...

Re: "The Ninth Gate" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I was actually surprised at how not creepy it felt myself.

Re: "Planet Terror" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I find the film effect gimmicks fun, but maybe for a shorter feature. I feel like most of what I really enjoy in this 10 years later could be fit into a 30 minute feature. The film effects, the silly...

Re: "Fade to Black" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I was pretty hot and cold on this one. To some extent the killings in the style of different characters is a lot of fun. But it was also hard to have too much fun with them in the tone set forward...

Re: "Tower of Evil" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

Heads up to anyone who is watching this stream. It appears to be missing the final two minutes which results in a much different feeling at the end. On the upside, I think I only had two commercial...

Re: "Cure" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

It was interesting and I enjoyed the style despite not being what I expected. I actually kind of like the ambiguity of the ending. Even if it does have its issues.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

If you hit 60 today, you can afford to lose a little time on your momentum. Unless you have a couple more days later this month that will be very low count. All in all, sounds like you're making...

Re: "In Search of Darkness" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I was also a little surprised to see Andre Gower. My guess is they got him because (1) He was in a beloved horror movie of the era, (2) He made a doc about said movie so he can be a documentarian...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

^Honestly, I am a little wary of extended cuts. Sometimes they are better, add more story, add more fun, but a lot of times there is a reason why some scenes were cut. If nothing else, sometimes...
