Re: Twilight Time $10 off Blu-ray sale - April 8-22,2016

Thanks! I'm also finding Broadway Danny Rose, Crimes and Misdemeaners, and Purple Rose of Cairo.. My poor wallet.. Being a Woody Allen completest is gettin' pricey.

Re: Twilight Time $10 off Blu-ray sale - April 8-22,2016

Hm, no sign of Purple Rose of Cairo or Radio Days. They must be sold out. I'm in for 1984, Love and Death, A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy, and Shadows and Fog.

I'm torn on this because I'm still...

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

I loved it. They pack a lot into those 70 mins. Well worth watching.

re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Blu-ray 3D) --> 11/15/16

The 2D bluray that just came out looks fantastic. As something of a completist, I'd be tempted to buy the 3D version, particularly if it has unique extra features, but in all honesty I'm more likely...

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

This is a rare instance where I prefer the art on the standard packaging over the steelbook, so I'm cool just grabbing it at BB when I get a chance. Although, I wills say the rumored 3D release is...

Re: THE HATEFUL EIGHT: Blu-ray+DVD+Digital HD -3/29/16

No dice on the steelbook at the Best Buy in West Hollywood yesterday during lunch (about 3PM). I would've picked it up, but no Roadshow cut makes this a very low-priority buy so I'm not sweating it....

re: Star Wars

But seriously, seeing this new movie without the 20th Cent Fox logo and the Tinkerbell flying around Cinderella's Castle in Disney World logo will just feel... off.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)

My haul, mostly blind buys this time:

THE RED SHOES - blind buy, but I keep hearing it's brilliant
THE LEOPARD - blind buy, Scorsese keeps shouting from the hills about it and it's not on Hulu
8...

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)

I heard the sale was extended through the end of today (the 3rd) but online the in-store pickup prices are showing as full price. Is this a glitch or is the sale over?

Re: Article: Blu-Ray Producers Say Studios Should Shift Expectations About Physical M

Yup. It's really reversed now. Used to be that TV was the crappy, family-friendly, safe, bland and committee-tested and now that has totally reversed. At least with cable TV... network TV still sucks.

Re: Article: Blu-Ray Producers Say Studios Should Shift Expectations About Physical M

There are a couple factors here. One, let's not forget what was going on economically during this past decade. The economy wasn't great from 1999-2007 but it was growing and not HORRIBLE. Those were...

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Speaking of AWOL extended cuts, weren't they also going to eventually put out a long cut of Malick's Tree of Life?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (12/18/2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fi

Good point about Disney, though if he insists the way Nolan did, he's certainly in a position to get them to budge. In L.A. the 35/70mm showings of Interstellar were a big deal. They opened a few...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (12/18/2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fi

I just read somewhere that Abrams shot this on film. Does this mean we'll (hopefully) get some 35mm releases (or even 70?!?) like we did with Interstellar? Also, can they even do the modern form of...

Re: What Blu ray are you getting April 28, 2015?

Yikes, it didn't even make the poll. I am an enormous PT Anderson fan, but I have to admit I was bored and frustrated with this movie. It felt like the Coen brothers at their quirky worst and twice...

Re: What BR are you getting January 20, 2015?

I'll probably pick up Purple Rose, but I'd really like if they came out with a kick-ass Woody Allen Collection for bluray, introducing films of his that haven't been available in Blu before. That...

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy --> 12/9/14

Is there any chance that we can agree to not buy from these scalpers on principle? I'd love the steelbook but no way am I giving a cent to these cheesedicks.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy --> 12/9/14

It really is pitiful, this scalping. I wish Best Buy would've been a little tougher and set some limitations, like 1 per customer or something. Went to the West Hollywood Best Buy around 3 PM and all...

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

Punch-Drunk Love- This is my most anticipated and long-waited-for title for bluray. What in the hell happened to it? Paul Thomas Anderson announced in 2011 or 2012 that he was working on it and it...

Re: Magnolia to release 5.5 hour Directors Cut of Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac 11/25

Hm. This is the sort of thing keeping people away from theatres. When you know director's cuts and extended versions are on the way, why spend 4 hours watching the "lame" version?

Re: Louie (Ep 409/410) -- "Elevator Part 6/Pamela Part 1" -- 6/02/14

Anyone else have a strange audio glitch happen during the Elevator part 6 episode? When Louie, Amia and her aunt were in the kitchen all yelling and Louie grabbed the plates to throw them down,...

Re: Californication -- "Julia" -- 4/20/14

Duchovny is Jewish, actually, but I get your point. This guy doesn't look at all like the offspring of these two people. He looks more like the son of Jonah Hill and Rosie O'Donnell. Reminds me of...

Re: What Blu-rays are you getting April 15, 2014?

Good luck finding it. Best Buy has become godawful at new releases of older movies. I'll probably go see if they have it, myself. Plus Reality Bites and Alice.
