Re: 2 Guns -- D: Kormákur S: Wahlberg, Washington -- 8/2/13

This looks kinda fun. Marky Mark is ok but I love Denzel.

re: Independence Day Parts 2 & 3 (D: Emmerich)

How bout the awesome computer game "Mozart's Ghost" in The Net? My iPhone has 10 times the computing power of all the computers in that movie combined.

Re: Great Filmmakers Who Would NOT Become Icons in Today's Movie Climate

I doubt it. Remember that the shark basically never worked. Had it worked flawlessly, we would have seen the shark much more than we actually ended up seeing it and it probably would have sucked...

re: Independence Day Parts 2 & 3 (D: Emmerich)

Oh yeah, I didn't think of that. The distress call would travel relatively slow, at least compared to wormhole speed. I don't even know how fast signals even travel, but just pretend that they...

re: Independence Day Parts 2 & 3 (D: Emmerich)

I think the science in that quote is totally wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he implying that if the aliens sent a distress call and their homeward received it and then travelled to Earth...

Re: Olympus has Fallen (2013) -- D: Fuqua, S: Butler, Freeman, Eckhart -- Reviews Thr

I didn't know the answer so I looked it up. You don't have to be born in the United States to be a secret service agent. You simply need to be a US citizen. As far as I know Gerard Butler is NOT a...

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Jackson, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

Obviously a giant eagle brought him back to Gotham and then immediately took off again and left.

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Jackson, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

The eagles are actually pretty frustrating. Much is said about them not getting involved in the day to day things of Middle Earth and how they basically don't care about anything other than...

Re: Olympus has Fallen (2013) -- D: Fuqua, S: Butler, Freeman, Eckhart -- Reviews Thr

By the way did anybody think the movie was overly dark? A lot of the scenes were at night or in dimly lit rooms but I thought the entire movie, even the outside daylight scenes were extremely dark....

Re: Olympus has Fallen (2013) -- D: Fuqua, S: Butler, Freeman, Eckhart -- Reviews Thr

I really enjoyed it. Yeah it was dumb and implausible in about a million different ways but it was very entertaining. Just a great badass hard R action movie. Butler is a GREAT action hero. He really...

re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) (D: Bay; S: Wahlberg, Peltz, Grammer)

I'm still kinda pissed that Bay didn't throw Stan Bush a bone and use The Touch somewhere in the movie. It could have been background music or just a few chords or even during the credits.

re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) (D: Bay; S: Wahlberg, Peltz, Grammer)

How the hell would they handle the size and scale of Unicron? He's the size of a flippin planet? Even if they DRASTICALLY reduced his size, he'd still be the largest "creature" ever put on film by...

Re: Reboots, remakes, retreads (The Vent Thread)

What's the difference?

I mean I guess I understand that a reboot means that you're like rebooting a franchise and starting over. Nolan's first Batman was a reboot in that it took an old franchise...

Re: Reboots, remakes, retreads (The Vent Thread)

You're taking this whole thing too seriously and thinking WAY too much about it. Different adaptations of books? Get real man. A new movie just like an old movie is a remake plain and simple.

So...

Re: Reboots, remakes, retreads (The Vent Thread)

I'm more annoyed by all the comic movies. How many do we need? I bitched about this once before but every origin story is essentially the same. Dude doesn't have powers, dude gets powers, dude saves...

Re: Favorite movie remake?

Yeah the new Thing is not a remake. It's a prequel. That would like calling Temple of Doom a remake of Raiders. The new Thing had a similar plot (I think...never saw it) but it obviously leads...

Re: Favorite movie remake?

I think to keep it simple, a remake should simply be defined as a movie that very closely follows the plot of a movie made in the past. Perhaps they have different names (The Departed/Infernal...

No, but the new True Grit has the exact same plot as the old True Grit. How is that not a remake?

Re: Which actor has accomplished the most with least?

Please. Aniston has zero charm or comedic timing. She fell ass backwards into a monster hit with Friends and yes...her hair most certainly made her more famous.

I've always found her to be very...

re: Jurassic World (2015, Trevorrow)

And don't focus so much on the raptors this time. We've already seen 3 movies with them as the main villains.
