Re: GLOW (Netflix) -- from EP Jenji Kohan -- S: Alison Brie -- women wrestlers -- 6/2

I think it could work in a League of Their Own type way, but from the trailer I was getting more of a slightly delusional "pornstars are empowered women" vibe.

Re: Stephen King's The Dark Tower - (2017, D: Arcel) S: Elba, McConaughey

McConaughey is closer physically, but he'd have to bring out something I've never seen in him to play Roland like the book. Elba seems like a more natural choice in terms of screen presence.

Re: Stephen King's The Dark Tower - (2017, D: Arcel) S: Elba, McConaughey

Not a fan of the trailer. Tone seems off and too hollywood action movie.

Elba is fine. Nothing it the trailer stood out but I still think he can pull of the role. Roland is really a slow burn...

Re: Deadliest Catch season 13 -- 4/11/17

I stopped watching within a year or two of Phil's death. When was the last time Jake was on the show? How did they end things with him?

Re: Doctor Who (BBC America) -- Series 10 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 4/15/17

Seems especially meh considering every major cast member of Torchwood was shown to be not at a minimum not strictly hetero. It will be interesting to see how they play it out though. It seems most...

Re: Doctor Who (BBC America) -- Series 10 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 4/15/17

This thread prompted me to rewatch Heaven Sent and Hell Bent last night and it really hit that point home with me.

Both were written by Moffat. Heaven Sent is a lot like Moffat's best work,...

Re: Doctor Who (BBC America) -- Series 10 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 4/15/17

I'm also in the "like Capaldi, but think he's had a lot of weak scripts" camp. I like the direction they took with the new Doctor and I don't recall ever thinking his performance was the reason I...

Re: Sausage Party (2016) - Seth Rogan & Evan Goldberg, R-rated Animation

Just watched this myself. Agree with what most are saying here a lot of good bits, but it also seemed to drag a bit a times.

And while the atheism theme was right in your face I didn't really...

Re: Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016, D: Zwick) S: Cruise, Smulders

Watched this last night and it was bad in a very mediocre way. The plot and character was just so by the numbers. I hate it when I'm 10 steps ahead of the characters and that climactic scene with the...

Re: Wonder Woman (2017, D: Patty Jenkins,) S: Gadot, Pine

A lot looked good, but a couple moments made me nervous, mostly stuff set in our world. It didn't give away the entire plot, which is a step in the right direction for DC.

That last comedic line...

Re: Dave Letterman announces he will retire (Last show 5/20/15) / Colbert signed as h

Agree, JD. If people want political comedy they already have a dozen options that aren't Fallon. I've never gotten the feeling that Fallon wanted to do that type of show and the networks are...

Re: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX) -- Season 12 Thread -- premieres 1/4/16

It doesn't seem like the show has been around as long as it has. When I read it was the 12th season I assumed they had some non-traditional production schedule that sometimes produced more than one...

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

Great career. A lot of iconic lines and characters. And his career was still going strong, as he seemed to be as well. Read about it this morning I'm still a bit shocked.

Re: Marvel's Luke Cage (Netflix) -- Season 1 Thread -- 9/30/16

I'm just watching this now (one episode left) after avoid spoilers since it launched. I thought I would be the odd man out since early word was that it was excellent. Instead I'm among the many...

Re: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX) -- Season 12 Thread -- premieres 1/4/16

After last week's A+, I'd give this one more of a C+.

I liked Dennis and Charles daddy/boy banter, plus Dennis's denial of being abused, but the payoff on stage at the end lost me. I got what they...

Re: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX) -- Season 12 Thread -- premieres 1/4/16

Great episode. I love how they danced around anyone saying the N word just a couple of episodes ago and then just had Charlie drop it here.

One annoying part was Mac retelling the myth of the...

Agree, Draven. You can't go back. Of course I would check it out, but I don't think it would work.

Re: Legion (S1E01) -- X-Men Universe TV Show -- Series Premiere -- "Chapter 1" -- 2/8

Yeah, it was a slow start that didn't really pay off in the first episode, but hopefully will in the future. I wasn't blown away, but it's set up enough to keep my interest for a few more episodes.

Re: Changes Ahead for Conan O’Brien’s Late-Night Show on TBS.

Given the shit Conan went through with NBC his contract almost certainly has iron clad guarantees for his show's time slot. They most likely can't do anything without paying him a boatload of cash.

Re: The Good Place (NBC) -- S: Danson, Bell -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/19/16

I kind of agree. He's good for one liners, but last night's recurring joke about him not understanding how sex works was more confusing than funny. I guess in this world's afterlife the mentally...

Re: The Good Place (NBC) -- S: Danson, Bell -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/19/16

I enjoyed this season, but I'm a concerned about how the show works once the viewers are in on it, but the major characters aren't.

Re: Have you ever re-watched an entire 22-24 episode season show, if so which?

Only season 6 counts. The rest were over 24 episodes long. :) Kind of crazy to think the first 3 seasons were 30+ episodes and each episode ran about 25 minutes.

Re: The Great Wall (2017) -- S: Matt Damon, Andy Lau -- D: Zhang Yimou

Just saw a tv spot for this during the football game. I hadn't heard of it before and until I saw Damon I thought it was just another studio mistake being thrown into the January dumpster fire of...

Re: The Fate of the Furious (Fast 8) (4/14/17, D: F. Gary Gray) - News, rumors, etc.
