Re: Rebuild of Evangelion

LOL I started this thread in 2009. My daughter was 3

I just started watching the original Eva with her on Netflix this week. She's 16 now.

Hoping she doesn't catch on with the Shinji scene in...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E03) -- 82 minute episode -- “The Long Night” -- 4/28/19

I mean, they also had a lengthy scene of her sneaking around ridiculously quiet in the castle too, in this same episode.

Apparently even quieter than her blood dripping on the floor (when she gets...

Re: What We Left Behind: Looking back at Star Trek Deep Space 9 -- Coming to BD

Just finished rewatching DS9 with my daughter a few weeks ago (skipping some bad episodes here and there via a reddit episode guide). Surprised how much of the show I'd forgotten in 10 years since I...

Re: The inevitable SNES Classic is coming (inc. Starfox 2!; 21 games, 9/29/17, $80)

The Classic 2 Magic guys sent a review unit of their cart to SNES classic to the youtuber Modern Vintage Gamer and he reviews it:

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Thanks.

If this sells, I'd assume you see a NES one down the road, also.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

This is pretty hilarious (didn't see a SNES classic thread at a glance).

Assume it is a cart dumper /Hachki all in one gadget....

Re: Sorry to Bother You (2018, D: Riley) S: Stanfield, Thompson, Hammer, Yeun

Wow, what a strange fucking movie. When I heard this was a "magical realism" sort of movie like Being John Malkovich or Eternal Sunshine, I had to see it.

Felt like a mashup of in-your-face...

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I've been kinda borderline on the service ever since they starting asking for ticket stub pictures and removed duplicate showings and now added peak pricing with a random price based on random times...

Re: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (PS4/XB1/PC/Switch - May 2018)

If you really want, you can get a joycon with a dpad for like $100 on ebay or etsy or wherever, or do the swap yourself if you feel like spending an hour or two (a lot of tiny screws and care). You...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

I've seen SNES classics in the wild twice now. One at Best Buy on the shelf and one at Meijer (Midwestern grocery store / gen, merch combo store, think like Walmart, except they came first).

Plus...

Re: What's the final word on 4K HDMI cables? Necessary or hogwash?

Most cables valid for 4k will be marked with the "high-speed" moniker. Should make it easier to tell them apart in your box o' cables or whatever.

Sure some cheapies might say that for some...

Re: Best Buy to Stop Selling CDs Effective 7/1, Target Pushes Away CD & DVD Industry

There's no evidence that people can tell the difference between redbook CD and 24/96. In fact, the couple of studies done on it suggest it is virtually impossible for people to notice the...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Yeah, that's what I figured it was. We know she has some Force. Using a pinch of it to save her life (doesn't take much to move mass in weightless space, just a little push) isn't a stretch.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Yes, and it is plain they're trying to get back to that. Back to its roots. Because of this:

Don't forget Chewbacca is buddies with the Jedi.

Exactly. Even the OT ends up guilty of it by...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

This. Not every bad guy needs a Wookiepedia-sized backstory. Snoke is bad, he's powerful, and when the Empire's leadership fell, he obviously stepped into the vacuum and seized power. I'm sure...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I love that Yoda was like Empire Yoda again, pranking it up and trolling Luke. He, at least, seems to have absorbed that the Jedi made mistakes leading to Vader and the Emperor and the Empire, but...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

She is drawn to the saber because she has the force, and/or it is her destiny. Overthinking it here, the fans are. The movie Primer, this is not.

Luke's theme plays because she is the next Luke....

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Not doing spoiler tags, it is a spoiler thread, so, be warned.

Luke's trick was great. With Carrie Fisher gone I'm surprised they didn't make different decisions WRT Luke though. Surprised they...

Re: The inevitable SNES Classic is coming (inc. Starfox 2!; 21 games, 9/29/17, $80)

Not really.

I've got a veteran ebay account (from the 90s) with hundreds of feebacks at 100% and I don't bother with something with such a tiny amount of profit.

Unless you're a powerseller...

Re: Analogue Super Nt - SNES FPGA hardware emulator - $189.99

I pre-ordered it already. Love my Analogue NT mini.

Kevtris won't say if he'll release jailbreak cores for it, but I get he has to maintain some official distance from Analogue on that. The more...

Re: Does it get any sexier? (LG 4K OLED bendable tv)

3D is almost completely dead. LG and Sony dropped it this year, and most other manufacturers have been dropping it for quite a while.

I really enjoy the passive 3D on my 2016 OLED, and I'm not...

That one doesn't work on the nes/snes classics. They have an updated model that does (I bought one last year for my nes classic).

Re: The inevitable SNES Classic is coming (inc. Starfox 2!; 21 games, 9/29/17, $80)

No, they have some issues, just like open source emus like snes9x. Yoshi's island on the SNES classic in particular has a weird issue going on with the textures on one of the stages. On the NES...
