I thought Disney held the rights for years and never bothered to release the films on dvd, then Columbia bought them a few years ago which is when the films started coming out on dvd.

I watched the R2 version this week and noticed that it had a very low average bitrate (~3Mbps) due to the two versions on one disc, but the video quality is not bad at all.
