Re: Give me some ideas on rearranging my HT equipment...with pics!

Did you figure it out?

If nothing else, put it on a shelf. Paint it black/wall color to make it disappear. A couple bolts through the bottom for stability.

Re: Give me some ideas on rearranging my HT equipment...with pics!

Simple is awesome. The rack is the last thing you want people to see. My goal someday is to hide it all in a closet so it's completely invisible, but I'm pretty far from that right now.

Re: Please confirm my hardware settings - Bluray with older receiver

Should be able to set player to bitstream, HDMI cable, the receiver should recognize whatever level of Dolby/DTS it can handle. None of the other audio settings in the player should apply. It's all...

Re: Low humming/vibrating noise from DVD player?

Probably DVDs with more branching are louder as the mechanism needs to move back and forth more, change spin speeds more. But things like imbalanced stickers could also cause more noise. Or damaged...

Re: Has 1080p Blu-ray Technology Levelled-Off?

Most of the problems are disc-related, not player-related. Of course, that becomes a player problem.

Not allowing resume is a disc authoring issue. They made the BD system way too controlled by...

Re: DVDs look horrible on new 65" Vizio HDTV. Why?

Is the video calibration stored separately for separate inputs?

Re: Low humming/vibrating noise from DVD player?

I would put it this way:

Since people now buy almost exclusively cheap, garbage players, a greater number of players in people's homes are now cheap garbage.

Re: How do you listen to movies through your home theater receiver?

I used to be a pretty "original only" type of guy, would only use help for certain movies or music genres. But Auro 3D is incredible. I now generally leave it on all the time. It is amazing. Most of...

Re: Universal Remote Recommendations

I quit trying with game consoles. Picked up a Roku for all the media stuff. Faster to get to the apps I want and remote controllable. Although now those are starting to be proprietary remote systems...

Re: Does the BD Player Have to Decode Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA If My Receiver Does?

I guess the OAR attitude around here only applies to visuals.

You guys should check out Dolby's latest incarnation found in receivers with Atmos. They've changed the name to Dolby Surround....

Re: Difference between soundbar and stereo receiver?

Well, there would be bars that have 2 inputs for the TV and receiver. Or, the receiver could still be used between the TV and bar. Or, get one with bluetooth and use a phone to play radio. Or, these...

Re: DVD's wont play

I'm sorry, but LD glue "rot" and "oxidize" are not the same thing. Obviously, DVDs can fail, too. Not every disease is the same. I like using words to actually mean something.

Interestingly, I've...

Re: DVD's wont play

That's LDs that are prone to rot. DVDs are not glued. I did have one that failed like this, though. Gladiator.

Re: Headphones suggestion for wife?

Which shape? And does "crazy Beats" mean $200 is too expensive? Or that you just don't like Beats?

Apple's current earbuds are actually pretty decent for sound, considering they are about $12 each...

Re: Dilemma-Atlantic Technology THX or Mission 77 speakers?

Can you listen first? Speakers are so subjective, listening yourself is always best. Even more so with used, you never know how they'll be.

Re: Opinions On RCA LED55C55R120Q

It is both. The ambient light is more important, but LCD panels are not perfectly uniform, either.

Re: Opinions On RCA LED55C55R120Q

"Native" generally refers to the physical design of the unit. Which is no doubt 1080p60. But 1080i is often easier for the electronics, it takes a lot of processing power to transfer 1080p60. BD is...
