Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

The Tortured Poets Department: Anthology has a different vibe than first album. It kind of reminds of me Dessner's work on Folklore and Evermore but not in the Indie Folk genre.

The original album...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

You can hear both the original release and the Anthology additions on YouTube. Bring up the account of Taylor Swift on YouTube.com, scroll down to Releases, and select THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT:...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I just finished listening to both the original and Anthology albums.

My assessment was right: it really does sound like a slightly up-tempo Lana Del Rey album. Swift's voice range is much narrower...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Given the potential subject matter of The Tortured Poets Department, I really wonder will the sound of the album have a slower, more downbeat tone than previous albums. in my opinion, it's not...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Swift pretty much lived up to the nickname The Music Industry: she single-handedly propped up Spotify and Apple Music, drove a major increase in physical record sales on both CD and LP vinyl, had a...

Re: The Beatles - Now and Then

I first saw the original music posted on YouTube. Nice song so far. But the true music video version hits home because of its very strong nostalgia factor.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

According to legal requirements, Swift couldn't do a perfect replication of the original song for the Taylor's Version. Still a nice sounding song, though.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Besides 1989 (Taylor's Version), there are rumors of the following albums showing up by the end of November or early December:

The so-called 1989 (Taylor's Version) Black Edition, with a number...

Re: Screen Actors Strike 2023

If the SAG-AFTRA strike isn't settled by the middle of November 2023, we may be talking a serious dearth of scripted TV shows and theatrical movies by April 2024. And that would be a humongous...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I doubt that. It will likely be on a two-disc DVD or Blu-ray and (likely) on streaming with most of the songs re-inserted. The Archer and 'Tis the Damn Season probably were dropped because they are...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Watch for most of them to be put back in on streaming or home video release some time in early 2024.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I believe the songs cut out are The Archer, 'Tis the Damn Season, and No Body, No Crime. The Archer and 'Tis the Damn Season are very unusual songs that are not as catchy as the other songs; once the...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Seeing it shot on a cellphone camera and variable sound quality on a cellphone live stream is one thing. But to see the Eras Tour in professionally-produced high quality video and sound is quite...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I wouldn't be surprised that Swift does do Super Bowl LX. And the show will be something like what she did at the 2019 American Music Awards, but possibly up to 20 minutes long and mostly with newer...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Swift's own management team determines who can be seating in the VIP tents. They don't want Karlie Kloss anywhere near those tents.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

JeffTheAlpaca,

Karlie and Taylor "could have been been an item" (to use celebrity magazine parlance) but the Scooter Braun debacle pretty much ended it. Kloss is still siding by Braun even now.

Re: Screen Actors Strike 2023

I think at this point, they MUST get the strike settled by early November 2023 at latest. Reason: we may end up with no tentpole movies in summer 2024 because major projects are being delayed.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I think before she does her three tour stops in Mexico City, Swift will be staying at her Los Angeles home and help the final mastering of the music for Reputation (Taylor's Version) at Conway...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

You might just get your wish. There are rumors of a so-called 24-Hour Edition with not only the original songs, but the extra songs and the remix editions of Lavender Haze and Anti-Hero.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I really think the November 23, 2024 date may be the very last date for the Eras Tour. Swift deserves a rest while spending time working on her 11th studio album. Don't expect the Roger Centre roof...

Re: Barbie (2023, D: Gerwig) -- S: Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling

I think Barbie will at least get multiple technical Oscar nominations, But acting nominations, I'm not so sure given the performances in Oppenheimer.

Re: Sinead O'Connor dead at 56

It's not hard to swerve into a political argument given how extremely controversial what O'Connor did at the time. -rolleyes-

But yet, her popularity essentially ended with that statement. Her...
