Re: The Official Alfred Hitchcock on Blu-ray Thread

This. And hopefully they went back to source materials. That way some grain that was stripped away can be returned in all its glory.

Re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Hilarious. I know someone who showed us his collection and he had Midnight Cowboy on Laserdisc, Dvd and Blu-Ray ... all unopened.

Falls in the category of ... you know you have a DVD problem when...

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Let's ignore the fact that you're still listening to CDs. Let's further ignore that that CD box set is probably worth 30% less the moment you open the package. But, you're whining about another day...

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

So ... since you already know the movie (even own the movie) ... why not just put the name of the movie in the search bar?

Re: Westworld -- The News, Rumors, Casting, Discussion Thread [Possible Spoilers]

Season 1 was good. If you could get by the craptastic idea that Jimmi Simpson ages to become Ed Harris. -screwy-

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Well ... we won't know until Michael decides to weigh in. However, Michael specifically mentioned his "bank" multiple times and "virtual credit cards" are issued by credit card companies.

He also...

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

I love how you choose to blame ... not yourself, nor your Bank ... but Amazon. Amazon isn't in the business of declining customer orders. Buy the projector using a credit card and it sails through....

Re: James Bond Update

Agreed. So many opportunities. However, my kid's generation doesn't think about owning stuff in general and DVDs in particular. They just expect to stream what they want when they want it.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Thanks, Hariseldon!

I used 9YMEMC49LG6NF to purchase a wall calendar. It worked with the pickup option at my local store.

Cheers,

Re: James Bond Update

Well said. Candidly, I thought that scene was troubling when I saw Goldfinger in 1964. I didn't see it as rape then. I saw it as sexual blackmail. It diminishes Bond as a ladies man.

In FRWL,...

Re: James Bond Update

Agreed for the most part, plus perhaps the best of the John Barry scores (YOLT is great as well).

However, Thunderball starts in France, goes to England and then to the Bahamas. Hardly loaded...

Re: James Bond Update

I think that's a fair assessment. Certainly, 10 minutes of editing could have reduced the bloat.

But, to be fair to history, Thunderball was the absolute height of Bond-mania coming on the...

Re: James Bond Update

From Russia With Love looks quite good. On Her Majesty's Secret Service does NOT, but that's probably largely due to the film stock used at the time of shooting. It's never looked good so ... just...

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

So ... Amazon has algorithms around shipping logistics but somehow, someway can't use those algorithms before an order is even placed?

Instead, in your mind, Amazon wakes up to the fact that...

Re: Penny Dreadful: City of Angels - 1930s followup series - premieres 4/26/20

I thought it was pretty darn good. Terrific sets, locations and story. Acting was generally good. Adriana Barraza was particularly terrific. Natalie Dormer ... wow, surviving her awful German...

re: Snowpiercer (Now on AMC) -- S: Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs

And I don't understand how you don't understand the difference. Tell me there are aliens and I'm good. Tell me that the alien can fly and I'm good. Tell me that a space ship can fly at the speed...

Re: Jaws -- 45th Anniversary Edition -- 4K UHD/BD -- 6/2/20

re: Snowpiercer (Now on AMC) -- S: Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs

Agreed. Parables are fine if you're 5 (or rather slow upstairs), but it's hard to invest in the show when it seems so preposterous. In Sci-Fi, if they tell you that the ship can move at light...

Re: Penny Dreadful: City of Angels - 1930s followup series - premieres 4/26/20

So true. For one city, they've created some story arcs that all could be their own comprehensive story ... all of them interesting to me.
