Re: Ricky Stanicky (2024, D: P. Farrelly) S: Cena, Efron

I didn't know he shattered his jaw. I was wondering why he had obvious work done (like someone else posted, he won the genetic lottery). He was looking like he was going for an "early surgery days"...

Re: Superman (2025, D: Gunn)

Brainiac was meant to be the villain at the end of Superman III, but we know what happened instead.

Re: Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

Fixed it.

Yeah, Uncle Byron is the best.

And over at Reddit someone showed that photo mode reveals that he keeps eating and drinking during the tavern fight.

Re: Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

So I just beat
Bahamut

but the cinematics around the fight made the whole sequence feel disjointed. By that I mean
we see Bahamut attacking the citizens with zero context, we fight him, and then...

Re: The Roku Thread

If the Stop the FOMO guy's suspicion is correct, this was all about Roku trying to cover their butts after a user data breach.

Re: Masters of the Air (Apple TV+) — From Spielberg, Hanks, Goetzman — premieres 1/26/24

Yeah, the production values were top notch (some very sporadic iffy CGI notwithstanding), and the casting/performances were excellent. However, it felt incredibly unfocused. And even with the ninth...

Re: Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023, D: McQuarrie) S: Cruise - The Spoiler Reviews Th

What old villain? Do you mean Kittridge and/or Alanna? Neither were villains during their previous respective entries.

I do agree the AI villain sucked. It felt like someone dusted off a...

Re: Civil War (2024, D: Garland) S: Dunst, Spaeny, Moura

Rave reviews don't really clinch it for me. Nor do negative reviews. By that I mean that I am more swayed by the content of a review than the final grade. I have seen negative reviews that led me to...

Re: Civil War (2024, D: Garland) S: Dunst, Spaeny, Moura

He's the only reason I am even aware of this. However, other than his name, nothing about this movie interests me. Even without knowing he was involved, Dredd, Ex Machina, and Annihilation looked...

Re: Civil War (2024, D: Garland) S: Dunst, Spaeny, Moura

I can't say I am interested in this one. The other day I chanced upon a glowing review from IGN, but nothing the reviewer said piqued my interest.

Re: The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple TV+) - S: Noel Fielding - Premieres 3/1/2024

Anybody else watching this? Its insanely goofy humour is just my cup of tea, and I've been having a blast so far.

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024, D: Wingard)

I have enjoyed all of these (and agree that Kong: Skull Island is the best movie, despite preferring Godzilla over Kong), and will definitely go see Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, but that trailer...

Re: Unpopular Opinion - Video Game/Gaming Edition

Actually, it still had a horror vibe. Yes, it was more action-ey but it didn't truly abandoned its roots. 5 and 6 were where the series went into TPS with monsters territory.

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

I read about that. But I also read he had that account before he ever signed on to make the show. So if Disney has an issue with that, it's not his fault they didn't do their due diligence.

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

Seems the only thing claimed so far is that he was "difficult to work with". That could be code for anything (from being uncompromising, temperamental, engaged in harassment, or worse).

Re: What are you playing? (March 2024)

I'm still deep into Final Fantasy XVI. Lots better than the mixed fan response would lead you to believe. Shame it won't get the constant updates Final Fantasy XV enjoyed. I guess they really...

Re: Masters of the Air (Apple TV+) — From Spielberg, Hanks, Goetzman — premieres 1/26/24

I wish we'd gotten the Tuskegee Airmen sooner, so they could have built them up before those three pilots ended up in the POW camp. I like this show, but it's the most rushed in the trilogy.

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

Although I feel the showrunner of the previous show he worked on comes across like she has her head up her ass, perhaps DeMayo's less than amicable departure from The Witcher had nothing to do with...

Re: The Batman II (2026, D: Reeves) S: Pattinson

Let me clarify. I don't dislike Man-Bat. He can be used well (as the animated series proved), but I fear he be used as a joke or mishandled as some generic henchman.

Re: Forspoken —> 1/23/23 —> PS5

Good to read another positive opinion in this thread. This was a game I was looking forward to, until all the terrible reviews scared me away.

Re: The Batman II (2026, D: Reeves) S: Pattinson

Is it wrong that, even under Gunn/Safran, I still fear a WB exec is champing at the bit to emulate Sony's Marvel "successes"?
