Re: Dunkirk (Nolan, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I agree completely.

I kind of liked the fact that we don't even know most of the characters' names, but we also really don't even get to know them as human beings. They're just props for the most...

Re: Supergirl (S2E16) -- "Star-Crossed" -- 3/20/17

I have a suspicion that Melissa Benoist having to relocate to Vancouver while her husband stayed in L.A. with his own acting career had a lot to do with the end of their marriage.

Re: OK Go "This Too Shall Pass" Video featuring Rube Goldberg Machine - AMAZING!!

The very end? There's also the giant wall of exploding salt containers at the very beginning.

This isn't strictly speaking "product placement." It's to promote Morton Salt's Walk Her Walk...

Re: Sony TV darkness problem?

I'm glad you finally got it sorted out. Watching a bad TV picture for any length of time gets really aggravating.

Re: AMC considering charging more for blockbuster movie tickets

AMC is in the process of buying Carmike, which currently owns most of the theaters near me. If they decide to jack up the price for blockbusters I'll probably go to even fewer movies than I do now. I...

Re: Westworld (S1E07) -- "Trompe L'Oeil" -- 11/13/16

Westworld is science fiction, set at some unspecified future time. It's a park that has been in operation for decades.

The other parks from the original movie and its sequel are options. And...

Re: Westworld (S1E07) -- "Trompe L'Oeil" -- 11/13/16

Do we even know whether Season 2 will be a direct continuation to the storyline of Season 1? Ed Harris is signed for two seasons, but that's all I've seen confirmed. Maybe he's a bridge between...

Re: Filmmakers who cast their untalented spouses and family in their films.

To be fair, Kevin Smith CAN...NOT...DIRECT.

To answer your question, though, I have to go with Sofia Coppola.

And somehow we need to blame Will Smith for getting jobs for Jaden Smith.

Maybe you just need to have more reasonable expectations.

Re: Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (2016, D: Ang Lee)

The same choir recorded both. They have five albums.

Re: new OPPO UDP203 player

All the reports I've read have the UDP-203 priced at $499.

Re: The Last Man on Earth (FOX) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 9/25/16

Yes, and Betty Draper is by far January Jones' most famous role.

Re: Sony TV darkness problem?

Well, those are nowhere close to the Rtings.com recommended settings I posted a few days ago. Did you at least try those?

I can for sure say you don't want the brightness and contrast set to...

Re: Sony TV darkness problem?

One thing I like about my Vizio is that I can create and name custom settings so I can tinker and still revert to my preferred settings without having to write them down.

Re: The Roku Thread

The remote for my new Vizio UHD TV has those, too. I like the premise, but I wish they were user-assignable.

In fact, I'll be doing that with my Harmony One universal remote.

Re: Sony TV darkness problem?

I agree, the manuals I found online for your TV were practically useless.

If it helps at all, I used rtings.com's recommended settings for my Vizio UHD TV recently as a starting point and was very...

Re: Sony TV darkness problem?

I'm almost sure this is some sort of "feature" designed to improve black levels. My Vizio has something similar --- it divides the LEDs backlights into zones and dims or brightens certain areas based...

Re: TV Networks to expand on-demand to battle cord-cutting

You'd be surprised how many people don't realize they can get local channels over the air with an antenna. And if they do, there's the added confusion about how to record them since most people...

Re: How come blurays don't have bookmarks anymore?

Except that it takes no disc space and costs no money to implement the feature, so there is no "waste." It would make more sense to include the feature for those who want it because it has no...

Re: Apocalypse Now Theatrical... correct running time?

The discrepancy on the run times of the theatrical cut may come down to whether you're watching the version with or without closing credits. There was a limited run without credits (which were...
