Re: Stop Making Sense (D: Demme) - 4K restoration coming to theaters

I've have this concert movie on blu-ray for many years but it was great to finally see it on the big screen. I was surprised the 3 cut songs weren't restored to the movie, but I guess that was just...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

Red Letter Media's final review of Picard Season 3 (episodes 8-10):

(a rare rave review for nuTrek from them)

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

I think there's something very "Manchurian Candidate" about Jack Crusher-Picard. The way he snapped into action to kill the changelings, much like he killed people in his fever dreams, made it seem...

Re: The Mandalorian (S3E02) - "Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore" - 3/8/23

I know this show is largely fan-service but it's ok with me as long as it doesn't descend into "The Book of Boba Fett season 1" level of idiotic fan-service.

I really liked finally seeing the...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

I was glad when Red Letter Media dropped the review that it included episode 4. Seeing Rich and Mike cautiously praise the season so far, while also mocking what they expected based on the bad...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

"Insubordination" is practically a nuTrek calling card. Immature snarky smartasses always know best in nuTrek.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

Yeah, I was thinking Beverly Crusher's logic made no sense, especially when factoring in that Jean-Luc has been living quietly and peacefully on the Picard family vineyard for maybe a decade or so. ...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

I watched the episode a second time and the Raffi scenes really are mostly terrible. The scene where she argues with her computer to drop a ton of exposition is probably the worst scene of the...

Re: The Last of Us (S1E07) -- "Left Behind" -- 2/26/23

This was the most "Walking Dead"-like episode yet.

Re: Favorite Western?

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

A movie comprised of a series of perfect scenes set to perfect music. Even the fact that it's all dubbed doesn't hurt it.

There are a lot of other Westerns...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

Episode 2:

:The Bad":
- Nearly of the Raffi scenes again. Everytime she was on the scene (with one exception), I couldn't wait until it switched back to what was going on with Riker & Picard &...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

Red Letter Media had a review of Picard S3 episode 1

Oh8iaLhUVxI

It's always great fun to watch Mike and Rich talk about Star Trek but it'll probably be 2 or 3 weeks before the next one.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

nuTrek though has the worst scientifically believeable stuff. Old Trek it took like a century to cross the galaxy at maximum warp and all the shows stayed consistent with that throughout. But in...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Definitely in the "Bad" category on how ridiculously fast they got to the edge of Federation space. It reminded me of the Discovery Season 2 plot where a bunch of...

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

The Bad:
- the Raffi scenes. All seemed like cut scenes from Seasons 1 and 2 (aka the 'unmitigated disaster' seasons of epicly bad writing). I wish her character had been kicked off the show like...

Re: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022, D: Johnson) - S: Daniel Craig

Saw it, liked it (mainly due to Daniel Craig), but it's not as good as 'Knives Out'

Re: Jurassic World: Dominion (2022, D: Trevorrow) -- S: Pratt, Howard -- The Spoiler Review Thread

Finally saw it. Junky script with a lot of stupid crap but the dinosaur scenes were mostly entertaining. Definitely better than Fallen Kingdom but not as good as the original Jurassic World. (Of...

Re: Should individuals from bands go into RnR HoF?

Devo had Dove (the band of love) open some of their late '70s/early '80s shows, and Dove (an anagram of Devo) was just the same guys in different outfits.

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO) - Series Discussion Thread

Re: The Boys (Amazon) - Season 3 Thread - premieres 6/3/22

I have a complaint about Starlight secretly livestreaming Homelander. Doesn't she remember his little bit about if he isn't loved then he'll be feared? Doing this is risking making the public start...

Re: The Boys (Amazon) - Season 3 Thread - premieres 6/3/22

I think it's a question of super-strength. Soldier Boy's blast causes Supes with super-strength to mainly lose their powers, while those without super-strength get fried.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi (S1E05) - "Part V" - 6/15/22

Hmmm, that makes me think there might be lush forests on the other side of the planet, but no one knows about it because they never leave this area.
