Re: Are you a fast or slow reader?

I guess you could say I'm a fairly big reader -- around 6'2", 215. Bigger than most readers, anyway.

Re: Book Idea - Your Thoughts?

There's not only the question of copyright, but also of your (likely) illegal possession of the letters.

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

The collection of Scudder short stories is terrific. I think I've read all of them before (except for the new one), but I'm having a great time reading through them.

Re: Are you a fast or slow reader?

I typically read about 50 pages/hour, which is slower than I used to. Part of it depends, of course, on what I'm reading.

Re: Audio Books ~ What's your opinion?

The reason I think it's a "lesser" experience is because you're not experiencing the text as it was created, and as it was intended by the author. A narrator is interpreting the text for you, adding...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

I haven't read Vegas Noir, although I intended to. A couple pals have stories in it, so I'm sure those are good.

Let us know what you find. (Maybe someone should start a thread for this?)

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

I was getting all of Akashic's noir series for a while, but I kept falling behind so I finally gave up. I have a bunch of them, though, and have read through (and reviewed) a few. I recall liking:

Re: Any MS Word Templates For Book Manuscripts?

You don't need a template. Just doublespace the manuscript. 12 pt Times New Roman font.

Re: Audio Books ~ What's your opinion?

I used to listen to a lot of audiobooks back when I drove a lot. I do find it to be a "lesser" experience than actually reading the book, but that doesn't mean it's not entertaining. I find that the...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Thanks! Of course, all I did was buy them. Actually, most of them I didn't even buy. I pretty much just set them on the shelf. Still, I was able to put them in order -- that's got to count for...

I ordered some of the books recently that I was missing -- but it turns out I'm still missing one. (I just have the ARC.)

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)

That's a great deal. They are definitely worth 3 bucks each! I'm tempted to get them myself, even though I already have multiple paper copies of each.

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)

The Parker series doesn't have to be read in order to be appreciated. There is a modest amount of carryover in story from book to book, but not enough to worry about.

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

I much prefer reading trade pb size than mass market. But I do miss the way the smaller size look all lined up on the shelf.

Re: Tom Cruise as Lee Child's rugged Jack Reacher?

Lee has his reasons.

Besides, I think Cruise could do a more interesting job than most of the names that get bandied about. (I.e., The Rock.) It probably still won't get made, but if it does, I'll...
