re: Hamilton (2020) -- live production with the original Broadway cast

There’s something like 3-4 different companies in the US alone plus London. They are making hay while they can.

Re: Ready Player One (2018, D: Spielberg) S: Cooke, Sheridan, Rylance, Mendelsohn, Pe

As someone who thought the source material was fun but not really well-written, this movie was a bit of a step back. Sure, there are a ton of pop-culture references, but they are almost all (with a...

Re: Ready Player One (2018, D: Spielberg) S: Cooke, Sheridan, Rylance, Mendelsohn, Pe

It replaces the part on ludus. There is a race instead of a quest. Almost none of the key stuff is the same and there are no gates.

Re: It (Andy Muschietti, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

He used love against him ... Georgie’s love of Bill and his fear of making Bill angry at him.

Re: It (Andy Muschietti, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

As with most King stories, the ending was the weakest part ... I had thought they might keep some of the original ending once they introduced Bill’s “he thrusts his fists” chant and then had Beverly...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Edwards, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I thought the same, especially about that recurring cue.

I really enjoyed this in IMAX 3D and was glad they didn't try to shoehorn in some cheap escape. The only this that felt too "mechanical"...

Re: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Yates, 2016)—The Spoiler Filled Reviews

I thought it was OK ... it was interesting to see the US side of the wizarding world but I thought that the two different stories they were trying to mesh together didn't go too well. I haven't...

I'm assuming he's a captive and that's why the first DS had such a catastrophic weakness .... ;)

Re: Timeless (S1E02) -- "The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln" -- 10/10/16

But in the continuity of this TV show, they would be, as evidenced by her sister's photo surviving in her locket.

Re: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child 07/31/16

My main problem about the story is that it resorts to time travel and uses it in a very uninteresting way. Rowling destroyed the time turners in book 5 for a reason ... they remove stakes in the...

Re: When did you give up on the Highlander franchise?

Stopped watching after 3, unless you count the "renegade" cut of 2 as another release.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child 07/31/16

The script from the West End 2-part play has now officially been released. Any one else pick it it and give it a read?

I'd rate this script-only experience as very mediocre. It's a shame that a)...

Re: Stephen King's Dark Tower-reading advice

I thought that the revised Gunslinger was a much easier read. I don't think the revisions make it a must read, but they definitely make it an easier read.

Re: Star Trek Beyond (Lin, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Just because it's the Internet and unnecessary comments rule ... this movie got bigger laughs from me than the new Ghostbusters.

Re: Ghostbusters (Feig, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I went in with low expectations and this movie didn't deliver at even that level. I didn't have any huge laughs and the origin-story stuff really dragged. The continuity of the rules of the world...

Re: Stephen King's The Dark Tower - (2017, D: Arcel) S: Elba, McConaughey

Are there to be sequels? From the images and captions, it looks like they are trying to hit most of the story in a single crack ... there seems to be parts of The Gunslinger, Wastelands, and the last...

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E09) -- "Battle of the Bastards" -- 6/19/16

It felt a little against GoT ... usually people die for stupidity. It was probably an easier death than Rickon could have ever hoped for ....

Re: Better Call Saul (S2E04) -- "Gloves Off" -- 3/7/16

Another great detail was that Crazy 8 was wearing a Tampico polo which I'm sure was his uniform for his family's furniture store.

Re: Deadpool (Tim Miller, 2016) — The Reviews Thread — SPOILERS

I saw it twice, once in IMAX and once in standard format and both used the "less-angry Rosie O''Donnell" line.

Re: Deadpool (Tim Miller, 2016) — The Reviews Thread — SPOILERS

Nothing like assigned IMAX seats next to a family of four with two kids. The boy asked why the unicorn was shooting stuff out of his horn.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Abrams, 2015) — The Reviews Thread

In my second viewing, I tried to specifically focus on Rey. At least there were enough layers, IMO, to make the movie interesting on repeat views.

Rey seems amazed at the existence of Luke...

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Abrams, 2015) — The Reviews Thread

I could see her first line in the next movie would be to call him dad ... though she didn't know that Luke Skywalker was her dad. The thing with the "islands" from her dream has me wondering though. ...
