It should never fail. If it does, the disc is not properly burned. Try buring it at a slower speed. I've performed it on two units and it worked the first time on each of them.

I have yet to try a PAL disc with my DVD player converting the PAL to NTSC. So would it be better to get the NTSC R3 version, even though the R2 got a better review?
