Re: The Unpopular Movie Opinion Thread, Part III

They killed John Connor in the opening minutes of Dark Fate. I don’t know how any self-respecting Terminator fan could’ve possibly watched that and not go, “Fuck this POS” almost immediately.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023, D: Rowe, P: Rogen/Goldberg)

Guess I will be the lone voice of dissent here but this was a big disappointment for me. Safe is the one word that would best describe every single aspect of this movie imo, from the story to the...

Re: Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman dead at 70

Rewatched Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure just the other week and it remains an absolute blast. Gerwig’s new Barbie film very clearly took some inspiration from it.

Re: Drive-Away Dolls (2023, D: Ethan Coen) S: Qualley, Viswanathan, Feldstein, Pascal, Domingo, Damon, Ca

Is this the first time Ethan has ever directed solo? Or an entire film at all? Of course the Coens always got “co-directing” creds but most fans know it was usually Joel who did most of the hands-on...

Re: Oppenheimer (2023, W/D: Nolan) -- The Reviews Thread

They have to because their hearing is all wonky and shot.

Re: The Unpopular Movie Opinion Thread, Part III

Indeed it is. No disagreements there. It’s still a terrible film.

Re: The Unpopular Movie Opinion Thread, Part III

Goonies is a terrible film. Nostalgia is the sole reason why it is so revered.

Re: Oppenheimer (2023, W/D: Nolan) -- The Reviews Thread

Jesus, Oldman doesn’t look THAT old these days. They made him up to look borderline 90! 😄

Re: Oppenheimer (2023, D: Nolan) S: Murphy, Blunt, RDJ, Damon, Pugh, Malek

The bullet was put into the wall in forward time by the guy in the first place; from his perspective once he goes through those events a second time, only backwards, yes.. the round and the bullet...

Re: Barbie (2023, D: Gerwig) -- The Reviews Thread

Ryan Gosling is the MVP of this movie. Will Ferrell is its biggest detriment imo. I just felt the movie started to drag whenever a scene of his came up. Why did the CEO and all his employees act like...

Re: Oppenheimer (2023, W/D: Nolan) -- The Reviews Thread

A long, exhausting film but never less than compelling throughout. Oscar nominations for Murphy, Downey Jr., the Score, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, etc. are pretty much all a given imo. And thank...

Re: Clerks III (2022, D: Kevin Smith)

This movie was absolutely fucking abysmal. O’Halloran can’t act to save his life or that of his family.

Re: The Unpopular Movie Opinion Thread, Part III

She’s given terrific performances (Monster, The Ice Storm, The Opposite of Sex, ie.) and I’ve always found her quite attractive when she wants to be. To each their own.

Re: Past Lives (2023, D: Song) S: Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, John Magaro

That final scene had more palpable tension than all this summer’s “blockbusters” combined.

Re: Sound of Freedom (2023, D: Monteverde) - S: Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino

The entire final half-hour where Ballard returns to rescue the daughter from those rebels in the jungle is a complete fabrication and never actually happened. It almost plays like a Rambo: First...

Re: DC's Blue Beetle (2023, D: Soto) - S: Xolo Maridueña

These kinda terms and their meanings change over time. I don’t know if it’s still the same these days but growing up a Puerto Rican calling someone else “negro” was like saying, “friend” or...

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Was it this Victor von Doomcock dickhead? Yeah, I still occasionally like pissing off his small cult of neo-nazi lemmings by reminding them of his adamant claim that Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and...

Re: Wonka (2023, D: Paul King) - S: Chalamet

He’s referring specifically to the PRODUCER tagline, not if it’s a Director one.

When I see, “From Director Guillermo De Toro” naturally my interest will be piqued and I will be interested. When I...

re: Deadpool & Wolverine (2024, D: Levy) - S: Reynolds, Jackman

Obviously I will be in the minority but I think he looks awkward and dumb.

Is there a point to the suit, exactly? It’s Wolverine. It’d be more badass if he just did all of the violent action...

Re: Napoleon (2023, D: Ridley Scott) S: Joaquin Phoenix

The Battle of Austerlitz shots (the ice battle scene) look really good. Trailer looks promising but this is Ridley Scott. It could be great. It could be shit. Or it could just be a really...
