Re: 19th Annual Holiday Challenge DISCUSSION THREAD

I loved that when it first came out. Worth a revisit. Last night I watched Genie (2023) on Peacock with Melissa McCarthy. Loved it! Very funny and heartfelt.

Re: 19th Annual Holiday Challenge DISCUSSION THREAD

Just added myself to the list thread. For some reason, I had it in my head that the challenge started on Thanksgiving. But I managed to figure out what I'd watched from the 18th on thanks to my...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I vote for Undeadcow for best list (but also for participation on the discussion threads). Undead's movie reviews are so erudite, I feel like a slub by comparison.

Congrats to the winners!...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Well, here it is the morning of Nov 1. October is over. Sigh. It's by far my favorite time of year, and I'm always sad to see it go.
Thanks, Chad, for another amazing challenge. It's become a...

Re: "Trick or Treat" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I feel like this would have been a much more entertaining watch if I'd ever been a heavy metal fan. As it was, it was fine. The bullied-kid-gets-revenge has been done so many times, and better, but...

Re: "Ready or Not" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I love this movie so much! I'm surprised some of ya'll hated it. I guess the humor is right up my alley. Samara Weaving is always magnetic on screen, and she's such a hoot here when she gets her...

Re: "Terrifier 2" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

There was a lot to like about this. The characters were interesting, the acting was good, and production values high-end. In general, I liked the Art the Clown character. I had to look away from the...

Re: "Livid" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

Good catch about the two colored eyes meaning "two souls". So maybe just one of them went into the vampire girl. Interesting.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Thanks for taking one for the team! It doesn't sound awful. I'll have to watch it in November.

Re: "Livid" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I think the transformation did work because afterwards we see the intern girl has 2 blue eyes and the ballerina girl has one blue and one brown eye. So they swapped souls.
But I don't get why the...

Re: "Livid" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

Good point. I thought the caregiver was killing them to provide something for the daughter, but it makes more sense that it was to keep comatose lady alive. In fact, when they go to tend her, there's...

Re: "Livid" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I can see why this had distribution problems. It starts out strong. Good production values, good cast. The old lady in the coma was creepy and the douchbag boyfriend wanting to break into the house...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

My husband and I just watched When Evil Lurks last night. I liked it. I like that they created a whole new mythology around possession (being "rotten") and that everyone in the film already knew it...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Thanks for the recs! Regarding Human Centipede II-- I actually liked the first one. I started to watch the second one a few years ago and turned it off in disgust. The lead character is a gross,...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

My goal for this challenge was to get to 99%. I had planned on skipping A Serbian Film, Begotten, Human Centipede II, Funny Games (US remake - I found the German one too disturbing), and Sheitan. But...

I just hit 99% on the They Shoot Zombies list. Whoo hoo!

Re: "The Hidden" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I just rewatched this about 6 months ago, but I still enjoyed watching it again. I love it. Kyle MacLachlan is wonderful in this, and the whole body-hopping alien premise is so fun. "I want to be...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I was planning to watch The Exorcist in 4K tonight. But the Ultimate Collector's Edition I pre-ordered from Amazon months ago is running late. They now say it might ship in November. I considered...

Re: "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I watched Haunted Hills not long ago, and enjoyed it. I think Mistress of the Dark is a superior movie in terms of the script. But Haunted Hills is fun too.

Re: "Brotherhood of the Wolf" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I watched this years ago, and had a good opinion of it, but I *loved* it on rewatch. I love the historical setting, the cinematography, the unusual addition of martial arts. And werewolves are one of...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I watched Jeepers Creepers 2 for this challenge, and I was surprised how much fun it was. I love how they weren't afraid to show the creature, and in broad daylight too. Great creature design. A bus...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

This reminds me... I just watched IT! Chapter Two. It had some weirdly retro anti-gay stuff. It opens with a gay couple being followed from an amusement park and bashed. It was by far the most...

Re: "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I really enjoyed this. It was a nice break from some of the heavier horror films I've been watching. I saw it years ago, but remembered little (except Bob, lol).

I thought the script was actually...

Re: "Empire of the Ants" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I had fun with this one too. I usually enjoy the nostalgia of 70's movies and seeing the faces of character actors I'd forgotten ever existed. I didn't recognize anyone in this except Joan Collins...
