Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Dan, whatever works. If it takes paper and ink to make a book's magic accessible, I'd say that's fine. For myself, I've found it didn't take long before an eReader seemed as natural as a printed...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

I think you'll be happiest with a Kindle. I find it a very enjoyable way to read. Have to say, though, that my eldest daughter's medium of choice is her iPhone, for which she downloaded a Kindle app....

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Gosh, is Afterthoughts having that effect on people? Gee, we never thought that would happen. Entirely unintentional, I assure you.

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

The impulse to respond "That's what she said!" is well nigh irresistible, but fortunately I'm a man of strong character and refuse to give in to it.

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Hmmm. I'll bet some Better Angel at HCC could send you a trade paperback, when it comes out in (I think) the spring. It could go on the Hard Case shelf, with the hardcover moving to the Block...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Hi, y'all. This being publication day of Getting Off, I figured a visit was in order. Actually I dropped in any number of times, having bookmarked the site when I joined, but I always returned to...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Wait a minute. CA thinks GO is dirty? DIRTY?? I have to say I'm shocked. Like, way more shocked than Claude Rains in Casablanca.

Oh, I'll be the first to admit it's a hot book. And, while...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

@DJL-I don't recall that Grifter's Game got any reaction back in '61. Don Marquis wrote somewhere that publishing a volume of poetry was like dropping a rose petal into the Grand Canyon and waiting...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Hi, CVB, and thanks. I believe the Getting Off hardcover will be identical in size to the new softcovers.
Re pulps, that term traditionally referred to magazines substantially larger than...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Sean, it seems to me that a chief virtue of eBooks is that one can keep books in print forever. Open Road has 40+ early books of mine available, and the medium's so reader- and writer-friendly that...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Thanks, xmiyux. I think HCC's move to a larger format was inevitable; hard to market rack-size paperbacks in the absence of racks. Stores just don't give the smaller-format books shelf space the way...

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4

As noted above, the early Jill Emerson novels have been reduced to $2.99 each. They're all available as Open Road eBooks, and have been virtually impossible to find in the aftermarket for many years...
