I'm just here to pad my post count. Thanks for starting the thread boss. Seems like it could live in other unless we want to politicize it.

This belongs in "Solar System Events" not "World Events". Very cool stuff, I've been watching it too.

Fantastic. We are slowing crawling out into the neighborhood, step by step. I know we've been to Mars already, but to get the landing down and to get pictures so quickly, we are making incredible advances.

The rover is on Mars to start the spread of socialism throughout the universe.

I donít know why but one of my favorite things is watching a Mission Control room erupt in celebration when a mission succeeds.

Maybe itís seeing a team of people getting to celebrate with each other over an accomplishment that can benefit all mankind.

"Roving" ... hah. More like invading foreign lands once again.

Damn, I am glad they will finally find proof that COVID was created in Martian lab.

Taking this social distance thing a little too far, aren't you Butch?

All we need to do is find 11,780 votes on Mars.

One hell of a publicity stunt to announce the Washington Football Team will now be known as the Washington RedPlanets.

Is there a Four Seasons on Mars?

Texas announces the location of all polling places in the next election?

OK, I give up ... why is this political?

These nerds spend years of their life working on this thing and all that hard work comes down to a couple of min, so it's very cool to watch them celebrate. Obviously a lot of science still has to happen with this mission, but the entry phase is really dangerous.

Well we shouldnít be spending money on this when it can go to arming teachers and students with free guns for the next school shooting,

Did I do it right?

That was so fucking awesome to watch. I took the day off to make sure I wouldn't be interrupted.

When you listen to all the different factors that have to be considered, in these missions, it is absolutely amazing that they work.

Can't wait to see video from the landing.

And....Bring out the helicopter!

Further proof that robots are fleeing the blue planet for the red planet. How many probes have gone from Earth to Mars? But not a single probe has gone from Mars to Earth!

I don't really discuss it here much, but I am very much a Mad Men obsessive. I am reminded of the episode that featured the Apollo 11 landing, and Sally telling Don over the phone what a waste of money it was considering how many poor and hungry people there were in America then. Obviously there was something of that sentiment at the time, as there is now. A great nation should be able to do more than one great thing at the same time; we seem to have lost that attitude, and I wonder if we'll ever get it back.

Re: Mars Rover Perseverance Landing

NASA does something cool, it has over 110 models available for 3D printing, including the Curiosity rover and a Mini Perseverance rover (39 STL files, and assembly instructions):

All printable models:
