I can see two different readings of the verbiage from IDES ...

How will the federal stimulus legislation affect Illinois unemployment benefits?

Individuals receiving unemployment benefits beginning the week of March 29, 2020, will receive an additional $600 each week above what they would receive in regular unemployment benefits until the week ending on July 25, 2002. Pursuant to the federal legislation, this $600 will not be retroactively applied to unemployment claims that arose prior to March 29, 2020.

Reading the first sentence, anybody receiving benefits for the weeks of March 29 through July 25 (EGADS! I just noticed that says 2002!) will receive the federal money.

Reading the second sentence, CLAIMS (not weekly certifications) initiated before March 29 will not be eligible.

Claims and certifications are different — claims are the initial request, certifications are the ongoing bi-weekly filing. Hopefully they are just mixing up their terms.

What I am expecting though ...

It seems pretty straightforward to me: if you lost your job before Coronavirus, go fuck yourself, you get the usual benefits -- you know, the benefits we paid back when the economy was robust and it was reasonable to expect you'd be able to get a new job relatively quickly. If you lost your job during Coronavirus times, you get an extra $600 a week.

Re: Stimulus Checks

All I can say is that at least in some states, everyone on unemployment gets the extra 600. It makes no sense for it not to work that way.

If you are waiting on a paper check ... you get to keep waiting so you can get one with Trump’s signature printed in the memo line ...

Re: Stimulus Checks

I was going to spend my stimulus money on a nice hooker, but there's that "keep a six foot distance" rule going around so there goes that plan out the window.

Re: Stimulus Checks

When I check the new site I get “payment status not available”. The small refund we got for 2019 was direct-deposited last week so they have all of our info. Not sure what’s going on.

Thanks for posting that site was up. I check the status and it said they don't have my direct deposit information. That's BS because I got a refund last year and paid them this year. Anyway they let you update your direct deposit details to get the payment.

Getting this now after a few attempts

Well that's helpful.

Re: Stimulus Checks

Fuji...quick update, yes I got my check. Silver lining is that now that I am employed (and survived a round of IB layoffs) I will let the money stay in my account for a while as it does not spoil.

Re: Stimulus Checks

$2400 in the bank.

I thought we’d get less. We make more than $150k combined.
