You can't just pick up and move the games to another city on a whim. Hotels and Venues are booked out months and sometimes years in advance on Olympic years.

We're less than 5 months away from the games. It's way too short notice to do something that drastic.

Athens and the islands, mostly islands, are all on the itinerary, but thanks for the heads up.

Enjoy the time. A poor economy and political discourse can't take away the fact that it's one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Most of Turkey is fine also, especially if you're just headed to places like Hisarlik and similar -- you definitely want to stay away from Batman and surrounding area though.

They moved the Women's World Cup from China to the U.S. in 2003 due to SARS. It's not exactly the same -- the Olympics is much larger -- but it's not unprecedented.

1 soccer event with like 10 countries is a big difference compared to the Olympics with hundreds of countries/athletes and venues required.

I was surprised to hear previous reports that there were no cases yet. Some friends of mine there were complaining that they were taking in people fleeing from China because of the virus.

16 teams playing 32 matches in six different cities. And I acknowledged the Olympics were bigger.

Why must everyone who criticizes Limbaugh feel it necessary to include a disclaimer about cancer? Is that to negate the effects of calling him "human garbage" and "the world would be a better place without him"? If so, it ain't working.

I have only been to Istanbul for a few days a few years back. I will say this. I am normally pretty ho-hum about visiting cities and often find our days in cities to be the least enjoyable part of our overseas trips, but Istanbul was a huge exception. It's an amazing city and I cannot wait to go back.

We are supposed to do a Loire Valley trip in May but the scheduled trip also includes a few days in Paris to attend the French Open. I am starting to wonder if the trip is going to happen, or happen as scheduled, now.

If I was going to wish the virus on a church nut, and presumably his followers, he seems like a good one to start with. As long as they can lock up his congregation from the outside, I guess.

That said, I do hope the communist Chinese government and everything it stands for takes a massive hit because of this. The arrogance of the CCP leadership in recent years is almost as grating (and largely as unjustified) as anything Trump has done, and they've proven they're wholly unprepared for this kind of catastrophe despite making sure that the people are fed a steady stream of propagandized movies, television shows and print/online media extolling the virtues of their Big Brother government and its scientific, military and foreign policies. Oh sure, they can build hospitals in ten days for the cameras, but then you find out they're little more than holding pens incapable of meeting demand. The CCP's top-down system of control, censorship and arbitrary punishment — and their still-ongoing media campaigns of misdirection, happy thoughts and euphemism — are just disgusting. State media (what else?) even today spins coverage of the outbreak with ridiculous stories of party fealty and other b.s., and conveniently ignore how their leadership's poor decision-making in the early stages let the bug spread around the globe. Thank goodness some independent reportage still gets out, though those brave souls have been known to suddenly disappear. I'm sure everyone here already knows this, but when doctors started recognizing SARS-like symptoms in patients in December and tried to share information with each other in order to get ahead of a potential epidemic, the government leapt into action . . . by arresting them and charging them with "rumor-mongering"! That spectacularly short-sighted (yet typically authoritarian) move alone allowed the virus to spread exponentially. Dear Leader Xi Jin-ping — notice how much of a non-entity he's been throughout the entire mess? — issued a formal "we're gonna wipe out this epidemic!" notice on January 20 (!), over a month after the outbreak was actually identified and at least two weeks (or more) after he was supposedly was made fully aware of how grave the situation was. That, of course, sent the public into even more of a panic (and naturally they've been spinning that one like a top for a while now ).

I truly hope that people in China keep lashing out now that this disaster has shown just how ineffectual their un-elected party-state really is, and how desperate it is to control the narrative at all costs:
Coronavirus Weakens China’s Powerful Propaganda Machine

It seems as if China is doing a pretty good job at keeping images, videos, and other evidence from getting out.

But if you have areas stuffed with people breathing on each other (whether China, a cruise ship, or a school classroom), these things are more likely to spread. Right? Like if this broke out in India, they would have a really serious problem right?

For better or worse, I live a pretty sterile lifestyle. I don't obsess over it. But I don't get sick much. I shower once or twice a day, keep my area very tidy, keep my car clean, etc. I Purell. I don't have kids bringing anything home.

You'll probably die from being to clean. Everyone knows you build immunity from playing in the dirt. I'll miss you man.

Killer eloquence by the POTUS.

Hopefully Pence's plan doesn't just involve a lot of prayer.
